Pope Fransiskus: Keluarga adalah masa depan masyarakat

Paus Fransiskus di “Negeri Kelahiran Umum” di Rom (Vatican Media)

Bercakap pada persidangan di Rom mengenai kekurangan bayi di Itali, Paus Fransiskus menekankan keperluan mendesak untuk usaha bersama untuk menyokong keluarga bagi menangani krisis demografi, memberi amaran bahawa keadaan pasaran bebas yang “biadab” menghalang golongan muda daripada mempunyai anak.

Ibu bapa, dan terutamanya wanita, memerlukan lebih banyak sokongan dan keselamatan jika negara seperti Itali ingin mengubah arah “demografi musim sejuk”, kata Paus Fransiskus pada hari Jumaat.

Bercakap kepada peserta dalam edisi ketiga “Negeri Kelahiran Umum”, mesyuarat di Rom minggu ini dan dihadiri oleh Perdana Menteri Itali Giorgia Meloni, Paus menekankan bahawa isu kadar kelahiran adalah penting untuk masa depan masyarakat kita.

“Sesungguhnya kelahiran anak adalah petunjuk utama untuk mengukur harapan rakyat,” katanya. “Sekiranya sedikit yang dilahirkan, itu bermakna harapannya kecil.”

Krisis demografi di Itali

Kadar kelahiran Itali telah menyusut selama bertahun-tahun, dan pada tahun 2022 mencecah paras terendah bersejarah baharu dengan hanya 393,000 bayi baru lahir, dengan kesan ekonomi dan sosial yang berat, khususnya pada sistem kebajikan.

Data-data ini, kata Paus, mendedahkan “perasaan tidak yang menentu” dan kebimbangan yang semakin meningkat di kalangan golongan muda untuk masa depan, yang mana peperangan, wabak, pemindahan besar-besaran dan krisis iklim telah menyumbang untuk menyerlah.

Membina keluarga telah menjadi “usaha besar”, terutamanya untuk wanita

“Mereka hidup dalam iklim sosial di mana memulakan sebuah keluarga berubah menjadi usaha besar, bukannya nilai bersama yang semua orang mengiktiraf dan menyokong”, katanya sambil menunjuk kepada kesukaran untuk mencari pekerjaan yang stabil, perumahan yang sangat mahal, sewa yang meroket dan gaji tidak mencukupi.

Dalam konteks ini, dia mengakui khususnya “kekangan yang hampir tidak dapat diatasi” ke atas wanita muda yang terpaksa memilih antara kerjaya dan keibuan mereka.

Keluarga bukan sebahagian daripada masalah, tetapi sebahagian daripada penyelesaiannya

Semua masalah ini mencabar pihak berkuasa politik, kerana pasaran bebas, “tanpa langkah pembetulan yang diperlukan, menjadi ganas dan menghasilkan situasi dan ketidaksamaan yang semakin serius”.

“Seseorang tidak mengatasi krisis seorang diri: sama ada kita semua keluar daripadanya atau kita tidak dapat keluar daripadanya; dan kita tidak keluar dari krisis yang sama: kita akan muncul lebih baik atau lebih teruk. Ini adalah krisis hari ini.”

Pada masa yang sama, krisis demografi mempersoalkan budaya individualistik semasa yang mengutamakan hak dan kebebasan individu, sambil mengabaikan hak keluarga, tambah Paus, sambil mengeluh bahawa haiwan peliharaan menggantikan kanak-kanak dalam sesetengah isi rumah.

Oleh itu, keperluan mendesak untuk usaha bersama dan untuk “dasar yang berpandangan ke hadapan” untuk mengatasi musim sejuk demografi ini, dengan mengambil kira bahawa “keluarga bukanlah sebahagian daripada masalah, tetapi sebahagian daripada penyelesaiannya”.

“Kami tidak boleh secara pasif menerima bahawa begitu ramai anak muda bergelut untuk merealisasikan impian keluarga mereka dan terpaksa merendahkan bar keinginan, menetap untuk pengganti biasa-biasa: membuat wang, menyasarkan kerjaya, melancong, dengan cemburu menjaga masa lapang,” kata Paus.

“Kita mesti menghadapi masalah itu bersama-sama, tanpa halangan ideologi dan kedudukan yang diprasangka.”

Mengalu-alukan kanak-kanak dan pendatang

Paus Fransiskus seterusnya menekankan hubungan rapat antara mengalu-alukan kanak-kanak dan pendatang yang, katanya, “adalah dua sisi syiling yang sama”, dan “mendedahkan kepada kita betapa banyak kebahagiaan yang ada dalam masyarakat”.

“Komuniti yang bahagia secara semula jadi mengembangkan keinginan untuk menjana dan mengintegrasikan”, katanya, “sementara masyarakat yang tidak berpuas hati dikurangkan kepada sejumlah individu yang cuba mempertahankan apa yang mereka ada pada semua kos”.

Soal harapan

Mengakhiri ucapannya, Paus Fransiskus mengulangi bahawa cabaran kadar kelahiran adalah masalah harapan”, yang, dia memberi amaran, “bukan ilusi atau emosi”, tetapi “kebajikan konkrit” yang disuburkan “oleh komitmen semua orang terhadap kebaikan”.

“Oleh itu, memberi harapan adalah tindakan sosial, intelektual, artistik, politik dalam erti kata tertinggi. Ia meletakkan kemahiran dan sumber seseorang untuk kebaikan bersama, ia menabur masa depan. Harapan menjana perubahan dan memperbaiki masa depan.”

Oleh itu, beliau menegaskan “Negeri Kelahiran Umum” sebagai “peluang untuk mewujudkan pakatan besar harapan”. “Memang”, katanya “harapan memanggil kita untuk pergi mencari penyelesaian” kepada krisis itu. “Menghidupkan semula kadar kelahiran bermakna memperbaiki bentuk pengecualian sosial yang menjejaskan golongan muda dan masa depan mereka,” kata Paus.

“Anak-anak bukanlah barang individu, tetapi orang yang menyumbang kepada semua pertumbuhan, membawa kekayaan manusia dan generasi.”
