KOTA KINABALU – The Emmaus Youth Camp (EYC-12) program has resumed after a five-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the last camp held in early 2020. The EYC-12 program was organized by the Archdiocesan Youth Commission (AYC) and executed by the Parish Youth Ministry Team (PYMT). The program targets SPM and STPM school leavers aged 17-19.
The program ran for seven days, from Jan 4 – 10, 2026, and was attended by 20 participants from various parishes under the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu.
The program’s objectives were to help participants deepen their personal relationship with Jesus through self-reflection, prayer, and genuine friendship among themselves. Additionally, it aimed to help participants appreciate that their lives are a gift from God with a divine purpose, and to enable them to grow into faithful and passionate Catholic youths (OMK) ready to become witnesses for Christ.
The Opening Mass for EYC12 was celebrated by Fr Wiandigool Runsab, Campus Spiritual Advisor. In his homily, he emphasized the importance of each participant being open to hearing the sessions delivered. Key sessions throughout the program included ‘Introduction to EYC’ by Sr Dora Obod, FSIC; ‘You are the Now of God’ by Serena Wong; ‘Self Identity – I am the Beloved Child of God’ by Fr Gilbert Marcus; an introduction to ‘Campus Life & K.I.T.A (Keep In Touch Always)’ by the Catholic Student Council (CSC); ‘A God Who is Love’ by Fr Terans Thadeus; and ‘Christ is Alive’ by Fr Sharbel, CSE. These sessions greatly exposed the participants to the enduring love of Jesus, which remains with them even as they enter adulthood.
