First reading Isaiah 41:13-20

I, the Holy One of Israel, am your redeemer

I, the Lord, your God,

I am holding you by the right hand;

I tell you, ‘Do not be afraid,

I will help you.’

Do not be afraid, Jacob, poor worm,

Israel, puny mite.

I will help you – it is the Lord who speaks –

the Holy One of Israel is your redeemer.

See, I turn you into a threshing-sled,

new, with doubled teeth;

you shall thresh and crush the mountains,

and turn the hills to chaff.

You shall winnow them and the wind will blow them away,

the gale will scatter them.

But you yourself will rejoice in the Lord,

and glory in the Holy One of Israel.

The poor and needy ask for water, and there is none,

their tongue is parched with thirst.

I, the Lord, will answer them,

I, the God of Israel, will not abandon them.

I will make rivers well up on barren heights,

and fountains in the midst of valleys;

turn the wilderness into a lake,

and dry ground into waterspring.

In the wilderness I will put cedar trees,

acacias, myrtles, olives.

In the desert I will plant juniper,

plane tree and cypress side by side;

so that men may see and know,

may all observe and understand

that the hand of the Lord has done this,

that the Holy One of Israel has created it.

Responsorial Psalm 144(145):1,9-13a

The Lord is kind and full of compassion, slow to anger, abounding in love.

I will give you glory, O God my king,

I will bless your name for ever.

How good is the Lord to all,

compassionate to all his creatures.

All your creatures shall thank you, O Lord,

and your friends shall repeat their blessing.

They shall speak of the glory of your reign

and declare your might, O God,

to make known to men your mighty deeds

and the glorious splendour of your reign.

Yours is an everlasting kingdom;

your rule lasts from age to age.

Gospel Matthew 11:11-15

A greater than John the Baptist has never been seen

Jesus spoke to the crowds: ‘I tell you solemnly, of all the children born of women, a greater than John the Baptist has never been seen; yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he is. Since John the Baptist came, up to this present time, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence and the violent are taking it by storm. Because it was towards John that all the prophecies of the prophets and of the Law were leading; and he, if you will believe me, is the Elijah who was to return. If anyone has ears to hear, let him listen!’

10th December 2020 Thursday 2nd Week of Advent

Reflection
Isaiah 41: 13-20, Matthew 11: 11-15

“To be great in the Kingdom”
Jesus affirms the greatness of John the Baptist but He goes on to say that “the least in the kingdom of Heaven is greater than he”. By saying this, Jesus wants us to know that to be “great” in the Kingdom of God is different from how the world understands it to be. To be great in this world is to be seen as a superhero who is strong, powerful, ambitious. However, to be great in the eyes of God is to be the least, i.e. to dare to be vulnerable, to be work for peace and justice, to be compassion, to suffer with the poor and the outcasts. In short, to model ourselves after Jesus Himself.

This Advent, let us not be busy with buying presents, but to yearn to live each day working towards being great in God´s Kingdom.

Question for reflection:
What is Jesus´ invitation for me in this time of prayer?

Renungan
Yesaya 41: 13-20, Matius 11: 11-15

“Menjadi hebat dalam Kerajaan”
Yesus menegaskan kehebatan Yohanes Pembaptis namun mengatakan bahawa “yang terkecil dalam Kerajaan Surga lebih besar daripadanya”. Dengan mengatakan ini Yesus mahu kita mengetahui bahawa untuk menjadi “hebat” dalam kerajaan Allah berbeza dengan cara dunia memahaminya. Menjadi hebat di dunia adalah untuk dilihat sebagai pahlawan yang kuat, berkuasa, bercita-cita tinggi. Namun untuk menjadi hebat di mata Tuhan adalah menjadi kecil iaitu berani menjadi lemah, bekerja untuk damai dan keadilan, berbelas kasih, menderita bersama dengan orang-orang miskin dan tertindas. Kesimpulannya, kita perlu menjadi seperti Yesus.
Masa Adven ini, marilah tidak menyibukkan diri dengan membeli hadiah-hadiah, tetapi marilah memiliki kerinduan untuk berusaha setiap hari menjadi hebat untuk Kerajaan Allah.

Hari Empat Minggu Advent Ka-2

Renungan
Isaiah 41:13-20; Matthew 11:11-15

“Besai dalam Perintah.”
Jesus nekan ka pemesai John Pembaptisa tang Iya mega bejako “Tang Iya ke pemadu mit dalam Perintah serega, lebih agi besai ari iya.”. Enggau jako tu, Jesus deka kitai nemu reti “besai” dalam Perintah Allah Taala enda sebaka enggau ajar dunya. Dalam dunya ti enti kitai deka besai, kitai patut nyadi orang bujang berani, ti kuat, ti berani. Tang enti ba mata Allah Taala nyadi mit tu mudah kena pechat, gawa ka pengelurus enggau pemaik, sinu sereta sama bela merinsa enggau sida ti seranta enggau kena buai. Kitai patut nitih ka Jesus dalam pengidup kitai. Musin Advent tu, awak kitai enda kiruh diri begiga meli hadiah Krismas tang keran deka diau ninting hari bekereja nyadi orang besai dalam Perintah Allah Taala.

Nama kangau Jesus ka aku dalam awak sembiang tu?

《依四十一:13-20》
《玛十一:11-15》

“天国里的猛力”
耶稣说没有一个比洗者若翰更大，但祂又继续地说”在天国里最微小的人也比他大”。耶稣这样说是要我们知道天国的”猛力”是与世界的定义不同。在这世界的猛力是要做强者，有权利，有抱负。然而，在天主眼里的猛力只是要我们做到最少，那就是，变得脆弱，能为和平和真理而活，有慈悲心，同穷人和流浪汉一起受苦。简单来说，就是要我们向耶稣学习。
这个将临期，我们不应该忙着买礼物，而是每天用心的活在天国里的猛力。

省思题:
1)在这次的祈祷中，耶稣邀我做什么？
