SELANGOR – What began as an ordinary Sunday at the Chapel of Christ the King, Selayang Baru on Jul 20, turned into an unforgettable experience.
After attending our usual catechism classes, participating in Mass, and enjoying breakfast at the church foyer, we were surprised by a special programme thoughtfully organised by our chapel administrator, Fr Peter Anthoney, together with Sr Mary David, FdCC and the Catechetical Ministry.
It was a mind-opening day designed especially for us — the teenage girls — and one we will remember for a long time.
From the moment the session started, we could feel a motherly warmth and excitement from Sr Mary. There were so many thought-provoking activities planned by Sister that made us to ponder & reflect more on our feminine side which, indirectly, brought us closer as a group.
Throughout the two-hour session, we talked, listened and shared our thoughts openly. One of the most valuable parts was learning from one another. Each girl had something different to say and it was inspiring to hear their stories of struggles and hopes. We realised we are not alone and that gave us strength.
Sr Mary also shared lessons on maturing and she helped us to understand the difficulty our parents had to face in order to raise us up to who we are today.
Self-care was another interesting topic as she shared on the importance of personal care and how it relates to first impressions and growth, both in our school life and church-life.
By the end of the session, our hearts were full. We felt so grateful, not only for the fun and meaningful time spent together but also for everything we already have in life. Sometimes, we forget to count our blessings, but this day helped us see them clearly.
It’s remarkable how a single day can leave such a lasting imprint. It was truly a beautiful and unforgettable experience and we look forward to more sessions like this with Sr Mary David. – Herald Malaysia
