On the occasion of the Frankfurt Book Fair opening on Oct 15, the Order of Saint Augustine and the Vatican Publishing House (LEV) have announced the forthcoming publication of an unreleased book by Robert Francis Prevost, titled Free under Grace: Writings and Meditations 2001–2013.
The volume gathers the writings of the current Pontiff from the period when he served as Prior General of the Augustinian Order.
Father Joseph Lawrence Farrell, O.S.A., the current Prior General, described the collection as “an overview of very important themes.”
Discovering the spirituality of Pope Leo XIV
The book offers readers a closer look at the spiritual life and thought of Pope Leo XIV through previously unpublished pages that include reflections, meditations, homilies, and addresses written by Fr Robert Francis Prevost during his years as head of the Augustinians.
All of the texts share the distinctive Augustinian spirituality that shaped the future Pope.
The book will be published in Italian by LEV in the spring of 2026. Commenting on the project, Father Farrell said: “This book, which brings together many of the communications of then-Prior General Robert Francis Prevost, O.S.A., provides an overview of some of the key themes he developed during his years as head of the Order of Saint Augustine.”
A highly-anticipated publication
“We are very pleased to take part in the Frankfurt Book Fair by presenting to publishers worldwide this unpublished book by Robert Francis Prevost, O.S.A.—now Pope Leo XIV,” said Lorenzo Fazzini, Editorial Director of the Vatican Publishing House.
“This text will allow readers to discover the writings from the period when the Pope was an Augustinian religious and the superior of his Order,” he said. “It is a volume eagerly awaited by readers across the world.” – Vatican News
