Bapa Suci: “Tuhan memberkati mereka yang bekerja untuk memerangi pemerdagangan manusia”

Hari Menentang Pemerdagangan Orang Sedunia (Siam Pukkato)

Bapa Suci Fransiskus ingat bahawa Ahad 30 Jul menandakan dua Hari Sedunia PBB: Hari Sedunia Menentang Pemerdagangan Orang dan Hari Persahabatan Antarabangsa. Dia menyeru semua orang bekerja untuk menghentikan eksploitasi orang melalui pemerdagangan manusia sambil berdoa untuk semua mereka yang memerangi pemerdagangan manusia.

Semasa Angelus Ahad, Bapa Suci Fransiskus mengingatkan bahawa pada hari ini, 30 Jul, kita merayakan dua Hari Sedunia yang diisytiharkan oleh Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu. Yang pertama, Hari Persahabatan Antarabangsa menekankan kepentingan persahabatan antara masyarakat dan budaya, katanya.

Tema kedua menandakan Hari Sedunia Menentang Pemerdagangan Orang yang bertujuan untuk menghentikan “jenayah yang mengubah orang menjadi komoditi,” kata Bapa Suci.

“Pemerdagangan adalah realiti yang mengerikan, menjejaskan terlalu ramai orang: kanak-kanak, wanita, pekerja…, begitu ramai orang yang dieksploitasi; semua yang hidup dalam keadaan tidak berperikemanusiaan dan menderita ketidakpedulian dan penolakan oleh masyarakat.”

Bapa Suci menegaskan bagaimana hari ini jenayah pemerdagangan manusia begitu meluas di dunia kita. Dia memuji mereka yang bekerja di kawasan ini dan bantuan mereka kepada mangsa.

“Tuhan memberkati mereka yang bekerja untuk memerangi pemerdagangan manusia.”

Tema Hari Sedunia Menentang Pemerdagangan Orang 30 Jul ialah Menjangkau setiap mangsa pemerdagangan, jangan tinggalkan sesiapa pun. Hari PBB tahunan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesedaran tentang perkembangan dan trend yang membimbangkan dalam bidang ini, dan menyeru kerajaan, penguatkuasa undang-undang, perkhidmatan awam, dan masyarakat sivil untuk menilai dan meningkatkan usaha mereka untuk mengukuhkan pencegahan, mengenal pasti dan menyokong mangsa, dan menamatkan impunitas.

Bapa Suci Fransiskus telah bersuara keras mengenai bencana realiti ini pada masa lalu, dengan mengatakan bahawa “Pemerdagangan manusia mencemarkan maruah. Eksploitasi dan penaklukan mengehadkan kebebasan dan menjadikan orang sebagai objek untuk digunakan dan dibuang. Dan sistem pemerdagangan manusia mendapat keuntungan daripada ketidakadilan dan kejahatan yang mewajibkan berjuta-juta orang hidup dalam keadaan yang terdedah.”

Kata-kata yang kuat itu amat dihargai oleh Msgr Robert Vitillo, Setiausaha Agung Komisi Migrasi Katolik Antarabangsa yang berpangkalan di Geneva, atau ICMC.

Ahli ICMC menawarkan bantuan dan sokongan kepada mangsa pemerdagangan. Mereka membantu menjana kesedaran dan daya tahan dalam komuniti yang terdedah, dan berusaha untuk membangunkan perkongsian dan pakatan baharu untuk mencapai perubahan jangka panjang. Kerja ini berlaku dalam pelbagai konteks nasional di seluruh dunia, dari Argentina ke Burkina Faso, Republik Afrika Tengah, Thailand dan Afrika Selatan, dan di peringkat antarabangsa.

Dalam satu kenyataan dan wawancara dengan Radio Vatican, Msgr Vitillo menyatakan bahawa “Pemerdagangan manusia ialah fenomena global yang semakin berkembang dan memberi kesan kepada lelaki, wanita dan kanak-kanak dari semua latar belakang. Tahun-tahun kebelakangan ini telah menyaksikan peningkatan risiko pemerdagangan di seluruh dunia, apabila krisis ekonomi global, konflik dan kecemasan iklim mendorong ketidaksamaan dan perpindahan. Pada masa yang sama, kadar sabitan global telah menurun.”

Komisi Migrasi Katolik Antarabangsa yang berpangkalan di Geneva, atau ICMC, menyelaraskan usaha penjangkauan Katolik dalam bidang ini menghimpunkan organisasi anggota kebangsaan yang bekerjasama untuk membantu pendatang.
