VIETNAM – Caritas Vietnam has reaffirmed its commitment to care for the environment and support vulnerable communities as it closed its 2025 Annual Conference on Sep 25.
The three-day assembly, held under the theme “Together Sowing Green Seeds,” brought together diocesan leaders to review programs and set priorities for the coming year.
The gathering opened each day with prayer and Mass led by Bishop Thomas Vũ Đình Hiệu of Bùi Chu, who also heads the Episcopal Commission for Social Action–Caritas Vietnam.
Delegates agreed to launch a four-year scholarship program for students from poor families, stressing that support must also nurture their overall well-being.
They also committed to strengthen parish-level Caritas networks and raise funds locally to sustain diocesan operations. Caritas Vinh was noted as having the largest and fastest-growing membership.
Environmental protection remained central to the discussions. The conference resolved to expand the Green Saturday Campaign nationwide, focusing on training and communications to build wider public awareness.
