Fr Gilbert blessed the sizable images of the Divine Mercy

PENAMPANG – ’Peace be with you’…were Jesus’ first words to His apostles, words that He had died to say to them, words He had risen to say to them. These words were spoken to them who were gathered in fear after the most important events from Jesus’ death to the glory of His resurrection, and now enshrined in the celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday promulgated by Pope John Paul II.
Fr Wilfred Atin preached at the Divine Mercy Sunday Mass Apr 24, underscoring that the feast of Divine Mercy invites us for the evangelization of all and that it is not only meant for devotees only.
The parish level celebration of the feast of the Divine Mercy Week is centralized annually at the Divine Mercy Church, Kg Maang. As is the norm, several activities preceded the celebration, one of which the novena prayers of the Divine Mercy chaplet.
The novena, which began from Good Friday, culminated with Mass at 5.00 pm on Divine Mercy Sunday, presided by assistant parish priest Fr Gilbert Marcus. Following his homily, Fr Gilbert blessed the sizable images of the Divine Mercy and Mother of Mercy which are installed in the Divine Mercy Church to enhance the devotion of the Divine Mercy for devotees and other pilgrims.
During the fellowship at the adjacent church hall, Penampang Parish Divine Mercy Apostolate coordinator Liza Stephen thanked all the zones, namely Maang, Kinarut, Limbanak, Penampang, Kolopis, Sukang-Mabpai, Minintod and Labak for their generous contribution in enabling the Divine Mercy and Mother of Mercy images to be beautifully installed in the church.
