Keuskupan Indonesia akhirnya dapat membina gereja selepas 15 tahun menunggu

BANDUNG, Indonesia – Sebuah keuskupan Katolik di Indonesia akhirnya dapat memulakan pembinaan sebuah gereja 15 tahun selepas lesen pembinaannya ditahan kerana tentangan daripada umat tempatan.

Uskup Holy Cross Bandung, Antonius Subianto Bunjamin, presiden Persidangan Uskup Indonesia mengetuai upacara pecah tanah pecah tanah pembinaan Gereja St Benedict di kecamatan Padalarang, Kabupaten Bandung Barat pada 22 Jan.

Penganut Katolik tempatan dan pegawai kerajaan menghadiri acara tersebut.

“Kami berharap gereja ini dapat digunakan oleh sekitar 4,000 penganut Katolik di sekitar Padalarang, Cipatat, Batujajar, Ngamprah dan Cisarua,” kata Pengerusi jawatankuasa pembinaan gereja, Tri Basuki Joewono.

“Jadi, rakyat tidak perlu lagi pergi jauh untuk beribadat,” kata Joewono, rektor Universiti Katolik Parahyangan di Bandung.

Sehingga kini umat Katolik tempatan terpaksa pergi ke tempat yang jauh termasuk di perbandaran Cimahi yang berdekatan untuk perkhidmatan Gereja.

Pegawai gereja pada 2009 mencadangkan pembinaan gereja St Benedict, Gereja Katolik pertama di Kabupaten Bandung Barat tetapi gagal mendapatkan lesen pembinaan.

Mengikut peraturan kerajaan persetujuan bertulis daripada penduduk tempatan, termasuk orang Islam, diperlukan untuk mendapatkan permit pembinaan tempat ibadat.

Peraturan bersama Kementerian Dalam Negeri dan Kementerian Hal Ehwal Ugama 2006 mewajibkan komuniti agama mendapatkan 90 tandatangan daripada komuniti mereka sendiri dan 60 tandatangan daripada penduduk tempatan untuk mendapatkan permit tempat ibadat.

Peraturan itu dikritik secara meluas oleh kumpulan hak asasi manusia kerana menyukarkan kumpulan agama minoriti untuk mendirikan tempat ibadat.

Kumpulan Islam, majoriti di kebanyakan kawasan, sering menentang pembinaan gereja.

Pada 2015, mereka memasang poster di tapak cadangan gereja yang mengatakan tempat ibadat Kristian tidak dibenarkan di kawasan majoriti Muslim.

Joewono berkata sejak 15 tahun lalu mereka berinteraksi dengan penduduk untuk mendapatkan sokongan.

Proses itu mengambil masa yang lama kerana orang ramai perlu mengenali antara satu sama lain dan hidup bersanding dahulu, katanya.

“Disebabkan kami mengenali antara satu sama lain dan membantu antara satu sama lain, kami kini dihargai dan mereka berterima kasih kepada kami,” katanya.

Arsan Latif, pemangku Bupati (ketua daerah) Bandung Barat, berkata beliau menyokong pembinaan gereja itu kerana perlembagaan menjamin perlindungan hak rakyat terhadap agama.

Beliau berkata kerajaan membenarkan pembinaan itu selepas semua syarat dipenuhi.

“Kerajaan menjamin keselamatan dan keselesaan beribadat,” katanya.

Jawa Barat merupakan wilayah paling ramai penduduk di Indonesia dengan 49.94 juta orang dan 97.29 peratus adalah beragama Islam.

Banyak kumpulan Kristian di wilayah itu menghadapi kesukaran sejak kebelakangan ini untuk mendapatkan permit membina rumah ibadat.

Dalam beberapa tahun kebelakangan ini, kumpulan advokasi Setara Institute for Democracy and Peace meletakkannya sebagai wilayah paling tidak bertoleransi kerana pencabulan kebebasan beragama, termasuk gangguan ke tempat ibadat.

Wilayah ini mempunyai 83,476 masjid dan surau Muslim, 406 gereja Protestan, dan 77 gereja Katolik.

Bagaimanapun, masih terdapat banyak gereja yang tidak mendapat kebenaran dan telah menunggu selama bertahun-tahun, kata sumber gereja.

Pada November tahun lalu, Gereja Katolik St Theresa di Cikarang, Kabupaten Bekasi mendapat kebenaran selepas 18 tahun.

Pada 2016, Suruhanjaya Hak Asasi Manusia Kebangsaan mendedahkan kes peras ugut oleh pihak tertentu terhadap jemaah di wilayah itu, dengan mempersoalkan permit untuk membina tempat ibadat.
