MY name is Junior Reachie Justtin, a 23-year-old passionate member of the Catholic Student Group (CSG) under the Diocese of Kota Kinabalu. I am actively involved in campus youth ministry at my university through the Catholic Student Group – Untuk Melayani Sesama (CSG-UMS), where I continue to grow in faith, service, and fellowship with fellow students.
I feel truly grateful and overjoyed because God has given me the opportunity to be part of MCYD. Through this program, I have learned many meaningful things that have helped shape my character as a young person and reignited my passion to serve in ministry. It has also given me the chance to draw closer to Jesus and to offer myself fully to Him in all that I do.
One of the sessions I truly cherished during MCYD was Conversation in the Spirit. In this session, we engaged in heartfelt discussions on meaningful topics such as Family, Church, Community, and Ecology. It provided a safe and open space for us young people to share our thoughts and perspectives, allowing us to deepen our understanding and grow in awareness of the world around us. This session also taught us the value of being good listeners, learning to hear and respect one another’s opinions without judgment. Most importantly, it nurtured a spirit of mutual support and affirmation, where we encouraged and uplifted each other. Through this experience, our bonds as brothers and sisters in Christ were beautifully strengthened.

One of the most touching experiences for me during MCYD was on Day 4, when all the delegates from across Malaysia gathered at the Parish Centre of Sacred Heart Cathedral. Witnessing people from diverse backgrounds come together in one spirit created such a beautiful and powerful atmosphere, it was truly unforgettable. We were also blessed with the opportunity to witness the Launch and Veneration of SALIB Malaysia, a deeply moving moment that reminded me of Jesus’ great sacrifice on the Cross for us all. In that sacred silence, I felt a strong conviction within me, to continue being a faithful servant of God and to spread His love to those around me. I am also immensely grateful for the people who journeyed with me during this program, my loving foster family (Uncle George and Aunt Yusnita), my brothers in Christ (Nelson, Neil, Darren, Jonathan, Rovin, and Ryan); as well as all the members of CIS and CSG. Together, we built meaningful relationships, shared laughter, joy, and countless unforgettable memories throughout the week. These moments will forever be cherished in my heart.
This program is truly remarkable, as it brings a significant positive impact to Catholic youths, encouraging them to remain passionate and steadfast in their service. More than just a gathering, it beautifully fosters the spirit of synodality among young Catholics by offering a unique space for connection and unity, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to build meaningful relationships. The program also serves as a source of motivation and spiritual nourishment, guiding young people in their faith journey through enriching spiritual activities and reflections. Overall, the objectives of this program were successfully achieved, leaving a lasting impression and strengthening the faith of those who took part.
To all the young people out there, keep standing strong as faithful soldiers of Christ. Do not be afraid, for you are never alone on this journey. There will always be incredible people walking alongside you, lifting you up and supporting you. Yes, there will be ups and downs in ministry, but never give up. Every fall and every rise are part of a beautiful learning process. Stay committed, stay faithful, and let your service be a path of personal conversion and transformation. Catholic Youth – Hebat, Kuat, Semangat, Amen!
