KUCHING — Catechetical Sunday was celebrated throughout Malaysia on 29 January 2023 with the theme, “Renewing the Church with Families of Faith”.
At Blessed Sacrament Church (BSC), the Bible and Faith Formation Ministry (or more commonly known as the Sunday School Ministry) held a mini exhibition outside the Church entrance during the weekend Masses.
The main objective of the exhibition was to inform and educate the parishioners on the mission of the Sunday School Ministry, the various programs offered (Sunday School in English and Chinese languages, including the RCIA, and Children Liturgy of the Word), and the activities of the Sunday School. Booths were also set up so that children could enrol as students, and parishioners could register as Sunday School teachers or helpers.
In his short address before the weekend Masses, John Wong, the Chairperson of the BSC Sunday School urged parents, grandparents and guardians to not only send children under their charge to the Sunday School, but to encourage them to join lay apostolate organisations like the Altar Boys, Boys/Girls Brigade, Choir, Legion of Mary and others, so that they would be spiritually formed into responsible, God-fearing and successful adults.
He also appealed to more parishioners to join the Sunday School as either teachers or helpers. – Today’s Catholic
