Perayaan meriah di Gereja St Augustine Kiambor, Kuala Penyu

Uskup Cornelius Piong menonton persembahan tradisional di rumah-rumah tradisi

KUALA PENYU – Sambutan ulang tahun Keuskupan Keningau, Pentahbisan Uskup Cornelius Piong yang ke-31 tahun serta Perayaan Pesta Menuai Peringkat Paroki dirayakan dengan meriah di Gereja St Augustine Kiambor sebagai tuan rumah pada 8 Jun 2024. Turut serta dalam perayaan itu ialah Fr Boniface Kimsin, Paderi Paroki St Patrick, Membakut, Fr Gilbert Enggan, Paderi Pembantu St Patrick, Membakut, Fr Lazoraus Uhin Paderi Pembantu Paroki St Valetine Beaufort dan Paroki St Yohanes Pembaptis Sipitang, Fr Paul Mikin, Paderi Pembantu Paroki St Peter, Kuala Penyu, Patrick Marius, Pengerusi Tim Pelayanan Pastoral Peringkat Keuskupan serta YB Limus Jury, ADUN Kuala Penyu merangkap pembantu Menteri Kerja Raya Sabah.

Selebran Misa Kudus, Uskup Cornelius Piong dalam homilinya, berpesan kepada umat agar sentiasa hidup dalam kesatuan dengan Roh Kudus yang menerangi akal budi, memberikan kebijaksanaan dan memampukan hidup manusia dalam mengahadapi pelbagai cabaran hidup.  Uskup juga megingatkan akan peranan Bonda Maria dan berharap umat akan sentiasa menempatkan Bonda Maria dalam peribadi, keluarga dan komuniti.

Pengerusi Pelaksana merangkap pengerusi KUK Gereja St Augustine Kiambor,  Marcella Joseph dalam ucapannya menjelaskan bahawa dalam menyahut cabaran untuk menganjurkan perayaan itu, penghayatan dan kesedaran betapa pentingnya kerjasama umat sehingga dapat membawa perayaan ini ke konsep peringkat gereja yang sebenar sesuai dengan matlamat Keuskupan Keningau di mana penganjuran perayaan kali ini benar-benar merealisasikan misi untuk berjalan bersama. Ucapan terima kasih yang tidak terhingga diungkapkan kepada semua yang terlibat secara langsung atau secara tidak langsung atas pelbagai sumbangan untuk perayaan ini

Marcella juga memaklumkan bahawa sejak 2 Jun lagi, perayaan itu sudah bermula dengan pelbagai aktiviti seperti pertandingan sukan tradisi, gotong-royong membuat kolupis serta penyediaan pondok tradisi oleh gabungan beberapa KUK di sekitar paroki. Keterlibatan umat dalam setiap aktiviti tersebut adalah sangat mengalakkan.

Pengerusi MPP, Jeffrey Singli menyatakan bahawa perayaan itu merupakan suatu kesempatan untuk pengungkapan syukur yang mendalam kepada Tuhan atas kasih, peluang dan penyertaanNya di dalam perjalanan iman umat dalam mempratikkan Dasar Gereja Sinodal. Beliau juga mengharapkan agar kesatuan dapat dikekalkan dari masa ke semasa.

Paderi Paroki St Peter, Kuala Penyu, Fr Roney Mailap dalam ucapannya menerangkan tentang peranan paderi dalam perayaan itu adalah untuk mencungkil dan mengembangkan potensi iman yang sudah ada agar semakin menyerlah dan sudah terbukti pada perayaan hari ini.  Beliau juga mengajak umat untuk sentiasa menerangkan, menghidupi dan membudayakan tema pastoral.

Uskup Cornelius Piong pula dalam ucapanya mengingatkan umat agar tidak lupa akan tanggungjawab kepada gereja serta berpesan untuk berjalan bersama membangun iman yang bersifat komuniti, bersikap ambil peduli dan setia kepada Kristus yang menjamin keselamatan. Uskup juga mohon didoakan supaya masih mampu menjalankan tugas sehingga beberapa tahun agar pelayanan itu tidak membebankan.

Seterusnya uskup bersama dengan paderi Paroki, Fr Roney Mailap Monutuh do bilod (menumbuk padi menggunakan kayu dalam bekas yang diperbuat dari kayu) sebanyak 31 kali menandakan perasmian perayaan ini dan mengumumkan penganjur UTK Ke-32 untuk tahun 2025 adalah KUK St Thomas, Backet, Kelampun.

Selepas Misa Kudus, uskup serta para jemputan dibawa melawat ke setiap pondok tradisi sebelum acara di dewan diteruskan seperti pemotongan kek ulangtahun, penyampaian hadiah-hadiah pertandingan, persembahan yang bertemakan tradisi masyarakat Kuala Penyu serta cabutan tiket bertuah.
