(CATHOLIC SABAH) – Arch/bishops of Sabah urge Catholics under the three arch/dioceses to join Holy Father Pope Francis, in a special prayer to consecrate Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on March 25, during the Feast of Annunciation of the Lord.
Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu
In communion with the Holy Father and in solidarity with victims of the bombings in Ukraine, Archbishop John Wong has decided on the following:
- All Masses on March 25 in the Archdiocese are to be specifically dedicated for peace in Ukraine and the Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the lmmaculate Heart of Mary.
- Parishioners may wish to join our Nuncio Archbishop Wojciech Zaluski and Archbishop Julian Leow in the live-streamed Prayer Service at St John Cathedral KL at 8.00pm on March 25 via https://Tv.Archkl.org and/or join our Holy Father in the service at 12.00am March 26 (Rome 5.00pm March 25)) at St Peter’s Basilica via their Youtube channel Vatican Media Live – English.
- Continue to fast and pray the Rosary for peace in the world, especially in eastern Europe.
From Archbishop John Wong, Archdiocese Kota Kinabalu: Call for Prayer March 25 For Ukraine and Russia
Diocese of Keningau
Bishop Cornelius Piong invites his priests, religious and laity to dedicate March 25 in a special prayer intention for peace, so that the leaders concerned are protected from evil forces and from a merciless and inhumane heart as happened in Russia’s attacks on Ukraine.
He calls the people in the diocese to pray for Mother Mary’s intercession so that humanity will be protected from the madness of the on-going war.
Bishop Piong proposes the following:
- Parish-level at Sunset Mass on March 24 or Morning Mass March 25.
- As March 25 falls on Friday, the parishes to hold the Way of the Cross in the evening. A Rosary prayer to be said before the Way of the Cross. Meanwhile at KKD-level, families can hold the Rosary prayer together.
- Intention for Daily Adoration throughout the week in Tatal Retreat House (March 21-26) is for world peace, especially in Russia and Ukraine.

Diocese of Sandakan
Bishop Julius Dusin Gitom urges all parishes under the diocese to join the Holy Father in prayer in consecrating Russia and Ukraine under the protection of Mother Mary.
Through this prayer he hopes that leaders in both countries may resolve to end the war through diplomatic means.
He proposes the following:
- Celebration of Holy Mass on March 25.
- Dedicate the Way of the Cross on March 25 for the Holy Father’s special intention. Encourage the lay faithful to pray the Rosary as a family or at the KKD level.
