KOTA KINABALU – For the first time ever, the Sabah Council of Churches alongside with the KK Archdiocesan Education Commission is taking the lead to organize a Teachers’ Appreciation Celebration this year, with participation by Christian teachers from the west-coast districts and Labuan.
Justin Liew, Head of the Commission said the objective of the celebration is to celebrate Teaching Vocation as a noble profession and as a calling from God.
“It is also to appreciate our teachers for the work they are doing and to pray for God’s enabling,” said Liew in his letter of invitation to the Catholic teachers in the Archdiocese of KK.
Liew is inviting all Catholic teachers in the archdiocese to join the important occasion to celebrate their vocation as a teacher.
The event could also serve as an avenue for teachers from various Christian denominations to get better acquainted to each other.
The first jointly-hosted celebration is happening on Jul 5 2025 at the Hakka Hall here from 10.30am-1.30pm.
Archbishop John Wong himself will be delivering his keynote address to the teachers and thereafter launch the auspicious event.
The host will also present certification of appreciation to the retiring teachers as a way to acknowledge the works they are doing.
