Perayaan Hari Minggu Sabda Tuhan dapat membantu umat untuk mengatur perjalanan hidup dan iman dengan diterangi oleh Sabda Tuhan sepanjang tahun (Maz. 119:105), demikian tulis Uskup Cornelius Piong dalam Surat Pastoralnya bertarikh 24 Januari, sempena Hari Minggu Sabda Tuhan.

KENINGAU – Perayaan Hari Minggu Sabda Tuhan dapat membantu umat untuk mengatur perjalanan hidup dan iman dengan diterangi oleh Sabda Tuhan sepanjang tahun (Maz. 119:105), demikian tulis Uskup Cornelius Piong dalam Surat Pastoralnya bertarikh 24 Januari, sempena Hari Minggu Sabda Tuhan. 

Katanya, selama ini, Hari Minggu Alkitab dirayakan pada setiap bulan Julai, namun bermula tahun 2021, ia dirayakan pada awal tahun. Prelatus itu menyatakan harapannya bahawa, “Semoga dengan menyambut Hari Minggu Sabda Tuhan pada permulaan tahun kita akan dapat mengatur perjalanan hidup dan iman kita dengan diterangi oleh Sabda Tuhan sepanjang tahun (Maz. 119:105). Baca pesan penuh perayaan Hari Minggu Sabda Tuhan Uskup Cornelius di bawah:

Saudara-saudari dalam Kristus,
Mulai tahun ini, 2021, kita umat akan menyambut Hari Minggu Sabda Tuhan pada Hari Minggu Biasa yang ketiga.

Tahun ini ianya jatuh pada 24 Januari. Pada tahun-tahun yang lalu Sabda Tuhan disambut dan dirayakan pada bulan Julai setiap tahun.

Namun pada 30 September 2019 Sri Paus Francis melalui Surat Apsotoliknya, “Aperuit illis” mengajak kita umat supaya menyambut perayaan Sabda Tuhan pada awal permulaan tahun.

Mungkin selama ini kita umat menyambut perayaan Sabda Tuhan hanya sebagai satu daripada aktiviti-aktiviti pastoral sahaja pada hari itu, selesai dan tunggu tahun depan lagi! Merayakan Sabda Tuhan pada permulaan tahun adalah sangat penting dan berguna bagi kita sepanjang tahun dalam perjalanan hidup dan iman kita. Kita berharap agar dengan menyambut Hari Minggu Sabda Tuhan pada permulaan tahun kita akan dapat mengatur perjalanan hidup dan iman kita dengan diterangi oleh Sabda Tuhan sepanjang tahun (Maz. 119:105).

Menyedari, menghargai dan bersaksi bagi Sabda Tuhan setiap hari dengan membaca, mendengar dan merenungnya adalah satu keperluan bagi kita umat-Nya untuk membangun kesatuan, kesetiaan dan kekudusan denganNya.

Apakah kita menyedari dan mengambil masa setiap hari melakukan apa yang dinasihatkan Yesus, “setiap orang yang datang kepada-Ku, mendengar kata-kata-Ku dan melakukan kata kata-Ku orang itu adalah seperti rumah yang dibangun diatas dasar yang kukuh” (Luk. 6:47-48).

Saudara-saudari  sepanjang hidup kita sebagai pengikut dan murid Yesus perlu kita sentiasa usahakan kesegaran, kesaksian dan ketahanan iman kita.

Di Malaysia kita umat Kristian hidup bersama dalam masyarakat yang berbagai bangsa, budaya dan agama. Memang keadaan ini adalah unik dan baik tetapi ada cabaran-cabarannya juga, terutama sekali terhadap iman Kristiani kita. Namun kita juga perlu menyedari bahawa iman tanpa cabaran adalah lemah.

Kita bersyukur kerana dalam apapun keadaan yang kita hadapi, Yesus lebih awal telah memberi jaminan-Nya, “Aku menyertai kamu sampai akhir zaman” (Mat. 28:20). Dengan kuasa Roh Kudus kita umat dibantu hidup  dalam kesatuan, diterangkan akal budi setiap kali berhadapan dengan cabaran dan pilihan serta dimampukan memilih dan memihak kepada Yesus apapun bentuk godaan yang kita hadapi.

Saudari saudari, dalam perjalanan iman, sama ada secara peribadi atau berkomuniti, Sabda Tuhan perlu “menjadi pelita yang memimpin kita dan cahaya yang menerangi jalan kita” (Maz. 119:105).

Dalam kita menyambut dan merayakan Hari Minggu Sabda Tuhan marilah kita mengambil insipirasi dan kekuatan iman dari pesan Santo Paulus kepada Timotius, “semua yang tertulis di Alkitab diilhami oleh Tuhan dan berguna untuk mengajar apa yang benar, untuk menegur dan membetulkan apa yang salah, dan untuk mengajar orang supaya hidup menurut kehendak Tuhan” (2 Tim. 3:16).

Saudara-saudari, dengan taat datang mendengar dan melaksanakan sabda-Nya sudah tentu kita akan mampu hidup sebagai pengikut dan murid Yesus dengan sentiasa setia dan bangga dengan identiti Kristiani kita (Mat. 10:32-33), komited kepada misi untuk bersaksi bagi Yesus (Mar. 5:13-16) serta yakin dengan pilihan kita mengikuti Yesus, “jalan, Kebenaran dan Kehidupan” (Yoh. 14:6).

Selamat menyambut Hari Minggu Sabda Tuhan.
