Uskup China mahu umat Katolik meninggalkan Gereja ‘undergound’

Seorang uskup China, yang diiktiraf oleh kedua-dua negara dan Vatikan, berkata semua paderi Katolik di China harus mendaftar dengan kerajaan untuk menamatkan perpecahan di kalangan mereka sebagai gereja yang dibenarkan negara dan bawah tanah.

“Apa yang paling menyakitkan dan menyeksakan kami ialah situasi perpecahan dan kesedihan antara saudara-saudara,” kata Uskup Joseph Han Zhi-hai dari Lanzhou di wilayah Gansu di utara-tengah China.

Han membuat kenyataan itu dalam surat yang dihantarnya kepada agensi Vatican Fides, pada ulang tahun ke-20 pentahbisannya sebagai uskup. Fides menerbitkan surat itu pada 20 Mac.

Han telah ditahbiskan dengan mandat Vatikan pada 2003, tetapi pada 2017, beliau mendapatkan dan mendapat pengiktirafan daripada badan politik China.

Pengiktirafan itu dibuat setahun sebelum perjanjian sulit China-Vatikan 2018 ditandatangani, dilaporkan bersetuju dengan syarat bagi kedua-dua pihak untuk bersama-sama melantik uskup di negara komunis itu.

Han yang berusia 57 tahun kesal sesetengah uskup tidak suka diiktiraf oleh kerajaan.

Semasa pertabalannya sebagai uskup yang diluluskan kerajaan pada 2017, satu “perayaan rasmi telah dianjurkan di keuskupan. Beberapa saudara uskup tidak menerimanya dan masih tiada jalan perdamaian,” katanya.Umat ​​Katolik Keuskupan Lanzhou menghadapi penganiayaan negeri selama bertahun-tahun sebelum Uskup Han ditahbiskan.Pendahulunya, Uskup Philip Yang Libai, yang ditahbiskan secara rahsia pada 1981 dan mengetuai gereja sehingga kematiannya pada 1998, telah ditahan dan didera selama beberapa dekad.Yang, tokoh penting persidangan episkopal bawah tanah yang ditubuhkan pada 1989, telah dipenjarakan selama lebih 30 tahun dalam hampir 50 tahun kehidupan paderinya.Yang telah dihukum kerana keengganannya berulang kali untuk menyertai Persatuan Patriotik Katolik Cina yang dibenarkan oleh kerajaan. Dia dikurung di tempat untuk “pendidikan semula melalui kerja buruh” oleh pihak berkuasa.Han berkata apabila dia menjadi uskup 20 tahun lalu, dia menulis surat menyatakan hasratnya untuk menyertai gereja yang ditempatkan di negeri itu.Dia juga merayu kepada para uskup “untuk mengambil keberanian, untuk diiktiraf oleh pihak berkuasa politik, untuk menerima undang-undang negara dan dengan itu hidup secara terbuka dalam persekutuan penuh dengan Gereja Universal, walaupun dalam konteks keadaan khusus mereka.””Dua puluh tahun kemudian, saya melihat bahawa laluan pertumbuhan telah diikuti,” kata Han.Pope Benedict XVI sendiri menulis bahawa “bawah tanah” bukanlah syarat biasa bagi Gereja untuk mencapai misinya, katanya.

“Inilah sebabnya saya percaya bahawa kita mesti menghormati undang-undang negara kita dan melaksanakan kerja kerasulan kita untuk mewartakan Injil dalam rangka perundangan yang berkuat kuasa di negara kita.

“Kami terpaksa berhadapan dengan begitu banyak masalah yang sering mengganggu dan membimbangkan kami. Hidup ini sukar, kerana banyak sebab! Tetapi Gereja bergerak ke hadapan dan melaksanakan tugas dan misinya dalam situasi ini,” kata surat itu.

Han berkata Gereja di China menghadapi “situasi baharu.”

Terdapat situasi baru, “dalam banyak aspek berbeza daripada dekad sebelumnya (apabila) tiada apa-apa, sesuatu mula muncul,” kata Has.

Sebagai contoh, katanya, keuskupan yang ditadbirnya mengalami pertumbuhan yang luar biasa sepanjang dua dekad lalu.

Keuskupan itu membina atau mengubah suai 20 gereja yang agak besar, melatih lebih daripada 20 paderi, dan “mengiringi pertumbuhan tiga kongregasi dengan 136 sister,” katanya.

“Walaupun terdapat pelbagai jenis kesukaran, dengan bantuan dan kesatuan seluruh Gereja, kita boleh menghadapinya, walaupun ia tidak mudah,” Han memerhati.

Perjanjian Vatikan-China, kata pegawai Vatikan, ditandatangani dengan “kebimbangan pastoral” untuk menormalkan kehidupan Gereja dan menyatukan kira-kira 12 juta umat Katolik, kini dibahagikan sebagai gereja yang dibenarkan negara dan bawah tanah.

Perjanjian itu ditandatangani pada Oktober 2018 selama dua tahun dan diperbaharui pada 2020 dan 2022, setiap kali selama dua tahun. Perjanjian itu dilaporkan membenarkan kedua-dua China dan Vatikan untuk menerima atau menolak calon uskup.

Tetapi perjanjian itu mencetuskan tentangan kuat daripada pemimpin gereja dalam dan luar China.

Kardinal Joseph Zen dari Hong Kong yang lantang bersuara menyebut perjanjian itu sebagai “pengkhianatan” dan “penjualan” penganut Katolik bawah tanah yang tetap setia kepada Vatikan walaupun dianiaya oleh negara.

Sejak perjanjian itu ditandatangani, enam uskup telah ditahbiskan di China dengan persetujuan negara dan Vatikan, dan Vatikan mengiktiraf beberapa uskup yang ditahbiskan “secara haram” tanpa mandat paus.

Laporan mengatakan masih kira-kira 40 keuskupan kekal tanpa uskup.

Selain itu, kumpulan hak asasi manusia melaporkan rejim China telah mengeksploitasi perjanjian itu untuk menganiaya umat Katolik, bertujuan untuk memaksa umat Katolik bawah tanah untuk menyertai gereja patriotik.
