Ziarah memperingati ulang tahun kematian ke-77 Msgr August Wachter

KENINGAU – Paroki Keningau sekali lagi mengadakan ziarah memperingati ulang tahun ke-77 kematian Msgr August Wachter, bersama tujuh orang paderi dan tiga orang awam yang telah diadakan pada 24-30 Ogos 2022 lalu di Rumah Retret Keuskupan Keningau Tatal (RRKKT).

Ziarah kali ini membawa tema ‘Mengasihi dan Melayani’ yang juga merupakan cogan kata Misionari Mill Hill. Melalui ziarah ini, umat diajak untuk bersyukur dan pemperingati misi perintis iman Katolik di Borneo Utara, Sabah.

Sebelum Misa Kudus, Uskup Cornelius Piong memberkat patung baharu Msgr August Wachter dan juga mengumumkan nama dewan baharu iaitu Dewan Keharmonian Alam Ciptaan Tuhan Msgr August Wachter, serta memberkat beberapa buah rumah baharu untuk kegunaan para paderi apabila bersara kelak.

Uskup juga memimpin Misa Kudus kemuncak ziarah pada 30 Ogos yang turut dihadiri 14 paderi Keuskupan, satu paderi CSE, Mother Frances Mani FSIC serta 15 sister FSIC lainnya.  

Di dalam homilinya, Uskup Cornelius berkata ziarah terakhir dilaksanakan adalah pada 29-31 Ogos 2020 di Pusat Ziarah Keluarga Kudus Nulu Sosopon, namun terhenti akibat wabak Covid-19.

Ujarnya, “Program ini amat bermakna dan sejarah buat kita umat di Keuskupan Keningau kerana mereka terkorban atas iman, harapan dan cinta kasih kepada Tuhan. Kita justeru berharap agar kematian mereka ini tidak sia-sia dan menjadi dorongan inspirasi khususnya untuk para generasi baharu.

“Apabila saya dilantik sebagai uskup, dan kita memulakan perjalanan sebagai sebuah keuskupan, dorongan untuk lebih mahu mengenali dan mendekati mereka semakin kuat.

“Oleh kerana iman dan kasih mereka, maka inilah kita pada masa ini. Merekalah yang telah membawa iman Katolik kepada nenek, ibu bapa sehingga kepada kita hari ini. Berkat Roh Kudus, kita mahu menghormati Msgr Wachter melalui perayaan seumpama ini,” kata uskup.

Dengan nada sedih, Uskup Cornelius berharap agar ibu bapa, komuniti dan siapa sahaja dapat meneruskan misi pelayanan ini kerana ramai generasi muda belia yang tidak mengetahui sejarah gereja kita, maka perlunya pendedahan kesedaran agar perjalanan iman kita mengikut landasan yang betul.

Slogan Msgr Wachter “Sebab kasih Kristus yang menguasai kami, karena kami telah mengerti, bahawa jika satu orang sudah mati untuk semua orang, maka mereka semua sudah mati” 2 Kor 5:14.

Para klergi dan religius

Msgr August Wachter merupakan seorang misionari dan paderi Mill Hill yang berperanan penting menyebarkan sejarah keselamatan di Borneo Utara bermula 1905-1945. Kongregasi Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (FSIC) atau lebih dikenali Sisters FSIC adalah buah dari kasih dan pelayanan Msgr August Wachter.

Umat yang menghadiri ziarah ini berpeluang mengenali lebih dalam tentang mereka melalui sesi ceramah yang disampaikan kalangan sister FSIC.

Hari pertama ceramah bertajuk mengenali para perintis iman katolik di Borneo Utara, Sabah yang telah disampaikan oleh Sr Appollonia Gumpu, FSIC. Melalui sesi ini, umat dibawa untuk lebih menghayati pengorbanan mereka yang sanggup untuk datang ke Borneo untuk membawa khabar gembira.

Manakala sesi hari kedua bertajuk Semangat Misi dan Pelayanan di Borneo dan ketiga iaitu kisah perjalanan sebagai tawanan perang dan terkorban, masing-masing disampaikan oleh Sr Patricia Limun, FSIC dan Sr Evelin Tivit, FSIC.

Mother Frances Mani, Mother General FSIC berterima kasih kepada Uskup Cornelius kerana telah memberi sokongan penuh supaya umat lebih mengenali Misionari Mill Hill dengan membuka pusat peringatan pertama Msgr August Wachter di Paroki St Anthony Tenom, Nulu Sosopon dan sekarang di Tatal dengan menamai dewan baharu ini sempena nama Msgr August Wachter.

Uskup Cornelius berterima kasih kepada semua paderi, sister, MPP dan semua umat yang mengambil masa untuk hadir, harapannya semoga semua umat akan mendapat isnpirasi dan dorongan untuk melayani dengan lebih sungguh.
