Jam masuk sekolah sebelum subuh di Indonesia undang kecaman

Para pemimpin Katolik dan  pertubuhan para guru di Indonesia menyuarakan ketidakpuasan pada keputusan wilayah yang  berpenduduk majoriti Kristian dengan memulakan kelas menengah seawal jam 5 pagi untuk mempertingkatkan produktiviti dikalangan guru dan pelajar.  Polisi Pendidikan yang baru itu dikuatkuasakan pada 28 Feb di wilayah Nusa Tenggara Timur, bermula dengan 10 buah sekolah menengah dan sekolah vokasional sebagai projek permulaan, selepas perwakilan sekolah-sekolah menandatangani kertas kerjasama dengan  Gabenur Wilayah, Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat. Sebelum ini masa persekolahan di wilayah tersebut bermula pada jam 7.15 pagi.

Paderi Franciskan Vinsensius Darmin Mbula yang berasal dari Nusa Tenggara Timur yang juga bertindak sebagai pengerusi Majlis Pendidikan Katolik Kebangsaan, mengkritik polisi tersebut sebagai sesuatu yang ‘keterlaluan’ dan ‘ tidak memberi perhatian kepada pertumbuhan dan perkembangan para pelajar’. Dia juga memaklumkan bahawa jika masa yang diambil untuk datang ke sekolah adalah satu jam, maka para guru dan pelajar harus bangun pada jam 3.00 pagi agar mereka mempunyai cukup masa untuk mandi dan bersarapan. “Waktu tidur para guru dan pelajar pastinya akan terjejas,” kata Mbula kepada UCA News.

Kekurangan dalam kemudahan infrastuktur adalah masalah serius di wilayah tersebut, kata paderi itu, sambal menambah adalah lebih baik jika pihak pemerintah menumpukan usaha memperbaiki kualiti para guru dan juga kebajikan mereka. Kualiti pendidikan di wilayah Nusa Tenggara Timur, yang penduduknya sekitar 5.5 juta dan hampir 90 peratus adalah Kristian, berada di paras tercorot dalam senarai kebangsaan.

“Mengharuskan jadual sekolah bermula pada jam 5.00 pagi adalah keputusan yang terburu-buru dan tidak wajar,” kata Retno Listyarti dari Federasi Kesatuan Para Guru Indonesia. “Ianya tidak pernah terjadi di mana-mana di Indonesia atau pun di dunia,’ katanya kepada UCA News. Dia juga menjelaskan yang federasi guru telah menerima banyak pandangan dari para guru dan ibubapa yang tidak bersetuju dengan polisi tersebut. Pandangan-pandangan tersebut mengaitkan berbagai aspek seperti keselamatan para pelajar ketika menuju ke sekolah diawal pagi, kemudahan pengangkutan yang kurang dan masa bagi ibubapa untuk menyiapkan sarapan pagi.

Para pendidik menolak polisi tersebut yang dilihat tidak ‘membuat kajian yang melibatkan semua pihak terlibat.’

Darius Beda Daton, pengerusi penyelia bagi wilayah tersebut, telah meminta pihak berkuasa tempatan untuk mengkaji semula polisi tersebut dengan ‘berbicang dengan komiti-komiti sekolah dan ibubapa’. Polisi baru tersebut diperbahaskan dengan meluas selepas sebuah video menayangkan  bagaimana para guru sedang bersiap memulakan waktu sekolah ketika suasana masih gelap pada jam 5.00 pagi, dimana hanya 2 orang sahaja pelajar yang hadir.

Linus Lusi, ketua Jabatan Pendidikan di wilayah tersebut bagaimanapun mempertahankan polisi tersebut dengan mendakwa bahawa pelajar berasrama Katolik dan juga sekolah berasrama Islam selalunya memulakan aktiviti di awal pagi. Dia juga menyatakan yang polisi tersebut bertujuan untuk mempertingkatkan kualiti pendidikan di wilayah tersebut dan akan dikuatkuasakan di semua sekolah menengah dalam masa terdekat. – UCA News
