Pelancaran Sinode Para Uskup Ke-16 Menjelang Tahun 2021 – 2023 untuk Sebuah Gereja Sinodal

SANDAKAN – Pelancaran Sinode Para Uskup ke-16 menjelang tahun 2021 sehingga 2023 berlangsung pada 17 Okt 2021 lalu dan dilancarkan secara rasmi oleh Uskup Julius Dusin Gitom. Pelancaran Sinode Para Uskup ini dibuat serentak dengan Keuskupan-Keuskupan di seluruh dunia. Dalam Misa Kudus ini juga sekaligus memperingati ulang tahun Keuskupan Sandakan kali ke-14 pada 15 Okt 2021.

Uskup Julius dalam permulaan Misa menyampaikan mandat yang diberi oleh Bapa Suci Francis yang menyeru semua umat untuk melibatkan diri dalam proses perhimpunan para Uskup di Kota Vatikan dengan merenung dan memberitahu Bapa Suci mengenai pengalaman iman kita sebagai pengikut Kristus.

Sinode Uskup adalah salah satu cara untuk para Uskup memberi kerjasama dan bantuan kepada Bapa Suci untuk menjalankan tugasnya. Uskup menjelaskan menurut hukum kanun 1983, sekelompok Uskup dipilih daripada pelbagai wilayah untuk berkumpul pada waktu-waktu yang ditetapkan bagi memupuk perpaduan yang erat antara Bapa Suci dan para Uskup seterusnya membantu Bapa Suci melalui nasihat untuk pemeliharaan dan pertumbuhan iman, moral serta pengukuhan disiplin gerejawi.

Sewaktu menyampaikan homili, Uskup Julius memaklumkan bahawa seorang atau dua orang uskup sahaja yang akan mewakili Konferensi Uskup Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei ke Kota Vatikan. Beliau menyeru kepada setiap umat untuk ikut serta dalam proses sinodal ini dengan menyatakan pengalaman iman terutamanya sewaktu pandemik yang mencabar ini untuk berjalan bersama-sama dengan Bapa Suci yang merupakan ketua gereja dan pembimbing rohani gereja seluruh dunia bagi memperbaharui gereja kita di seluruh dunia sekaligus mendekatkan diri dengan Tuhan yang sudah tentu akan didorongi oleh roh kudus sepanjang perjalanan itu. Bapa Suci inginkan anggota-anggota gereja untuk bergerak secara sehaluan dalam proses sinodal ini baik dalam kegembiraan mahupun penderitaan.

Bagi mempertimbangkan persoalan-persoalan berkaitan dengan gereja di seluruh dunia, gereja universal Katolik akan memulakan perjalanan sinodal pada tahun ini yang telah pun dilancarkan dan dibuka secara rasmi oleh Bapa Suci Fransiskus pada 10 Okt 2021 lalu.

Selaras dengan surat pastoral daripada Presiden Konferensi Para Uskup Katolik di Malaysia, Singapore dan Brunei iaitu Uskup Sebastian Francis yang telah dibacakan oleh Uskup Julius sewaktu misa pelancaran, tema bagi Sinode Para Uskup Ke-16 ialah “Untuk Gereja Sinodal: Persekutuan, Partisipasi dan Misi’.

Bagi memperdalamkan ciri penting gereja, sinode akan bermula dengan melibatkan semua umat di gereja tempatan di seluruh dunia dan akan memastikan semua suara umat didengar.

Seterusnya, prelatus itu menerangkan proses sinode ini akan berlangsung selama 2 tahun bermula Oktober 2021 sehingga Oktober 2023 dan dibahagikan kepada beberapa fasa. Fasa untuk mendengarkan semua umat bagi Keuskupan Sandakan akan berlangsung sehingga April 2022 diikuti dengan fasa benua dari Sept 2022 sehingga Mac 2023. Pada Okt 2023, fasa gereja universal berlangsung pada perhimpunan sinode uskup di Kota Vatikan.

Dengan itu, program atau garis masa bagi Keuskupan Sandakan sepanjang perjalanan sinodal ini dimulakan dengan Misa pelancaran iaitu pada 17 Okt 2021.

Pada 27 Okt 2021, sesi taklimat kepada semua paderi, ahli religius dan wakil-wakil majlis pastoral paroki tentang program perjalanan sinodal akan diadakan. Sepanjang bulan Nov tahun 2021, soalan-soalan akan diberikan kepada semua paroki untuk proses sinodal ini dan pada bulan Dis 2021, semua respons penemuan akan dihantarkan kepada Focus Team Keuskupan untuk disusun, dianalisa dan dijadikan laporan.
