Jadilah pemersatu, pesan Bapa Suci kepada media Katolik

Bapa Suci Francis meminta media Katolik di seluruh dunia untuk menjadi tanda perpaduan di tengah kepelbagaian.

Dalam perutusannya kepada Persidangan Media Katolik tahun ini, yang ditaja oleh Persatuan Akhbar Katolik, Bapa Suci menekankan perlunya “media yang mampu membina jambatan, menopang kehidupan dan meruntuhkan tembok, baik yang kelihatan maupun yang tidak kelihatan, yang menghalang dialog yang tulus dan komunikasi yang jujur ​​antara individu dan Awam. “Persatuan Akhbar Katolik yang ditubuhkan lebih dari seratus tahun yang lalu di Amerika Syarikat telah dikenali sebagai “kumpulan media Katolik yang paling aktif di dunia.”

Organisasi ini mempunyai 225 penerbitan dan 600 orang ahli.

Tahun ini, buat pertama kalinya dalam sejarah, persatuan mengadakan persidangan ‘virtual’  kerana wabak COVID-19.

Tema yang tepat pada masanya

 Bapa Suci memulai pesannya dengan menyatakan kedekatannya “kepada mereka yang terkena virus dan mereka yang, walaupun berisiko nyawa mereka, telah bekerja dan terus bekerja membantu saudara-saudara kita yang memerlukan.”

Tema yang dipilih untuk konferensi tahun ini adalah Together While Apart – Bersama Ketika Terpisah.

Menurut Bapa Suci, tema ini “dengan fasih mengungkapkan rasa kebersamaan yang muncul, secara paradoks, dari pengalaman jarak sosial yang dipaksa oleh kerana pandemik.”

Bapa Suci juga menggarisbawahi bagaimana “pengalaman beberapa bulan terakhir menunjukkan betapa pentingnya misi media komunikasi untuk menyatukan orang, memendekkan jarak, memberikan maklumat yang diperlukan, dan membuka fikiran dan hati kepada kebenaran.”

“E pluribus unum – cita-cita kesatuan di tengah keragaman, tercermin dalam moto Amerika Syarikat”, katanya, “harus juga mengilhami layanan yang anda tawarkan untuk kebaikan bersama.”

Beliau menekankan hal ini sangat mendesak ketika ini di tengah dunia yang ditandai oleh konflik dan polarisasi.

“Kita memerlukan media yang dapat membantu orang, terutama kaum muda, untuk membezakan yang baik dari yang jahat, untuk mengembangkan penilaian yang sihat berdasarkan pada fakta yang jelas dan tidak berat sebelah dan untuk memahami pentingnya bekerja untuk keadilan, kerukunan sosial dan rasa hormat untuk rumah kita bersama,” kata Bapa Suci Fransiskus.

Sebagai orang Kristian, beliau menekankan, kita masing-masing, di mana pun kita berada, diminta untuk menyumbang kepada pertumbuhan Gereja menuju kedewasaan penuh dalam Kristus.

“Komunikasi, kita tahu, bukan hanya masalah kecekapan profesional,” katanya.

Menurut Bapa Suci seorang komunikator sejati “mendedikasikan dirinya sepenuhnya untuk kesejahteraan yang lain, di setiap tingkatan, dari kehidupan setiap individu hingga kehidupan seluruh keluarga manusia.”

Bapa Suci menunjukkan bahawa, “kita tidak dapat benar-benar berkomunikasi jika kita tidak terlibat secara peribadi, kita secara peribadi dapat membuktikan kebenaran mesej yang kita sampaikan.”

Semua komunikasi, katanya, “memiliki sumber muktamad dalam kehidupan Tritunggal, yang membagikan kekayaan hidup ilahi kepada kita dan pada gilirannya memanggil kita untuk mengkomunikasikan harta itu kepada orang lain melalui persatuan kita dalam pelayanan kebenaranNya.”

Pandangan Roh Kudus

Sambil memohon curahan karunia-karunia kebijaksanaan, pengertian dan nasihat yang baik dari Roh Kudus atas pekerjaan mereka, Bapa Suci mencatat bahawa “hanya tatapan Roh yang memungkinkan kita untuk tidak menutup mata terhadap mereka yang menderita dan mencari kebaikan sejati dari semua.”

Menurutnya, hanya dengan tatapan itu “kita dapat bekerja secara efektif untuk mengatasi penyakit perkauman, ketidakadilan, dan ketidakpedulian yang merosak wajah keluarga kita.”

Mengakhiri pesannya, Bapa Suci “ketika dunia melihat konflik dan perpecahan, semoga anda memperhatikan penderitaan dan kemiskinan, dan memberikan suara untuk permohonan saudara-saudari kita yang memerlukan belas kasihan dan pengertian.”

Pertemuan virtual ini telah berlangsung dari 30 Jun hingga 2 Julai 2020.
