JOHOR BAHRU – Caritas MJD (Malacca Johore Diocese) recently conducted a first aid and AED training session at Pusat Kasih Caritas, drawing over 40 participants. The session, held on July 31, was led by Govinda, whose extensive experience with the Bulan Sabit Merah lent credibility and depth to the training.
Participants were taught crucial life-saving skills, including CPR for adults and children, the correct response to choking incidents, and the treatment of various wounds — from minor cuts to more serious injuries. The training also covered proper bandaging techniques and the use of pressure or elevation to control bleeding.
Emphasising hands-on learning, Govinda created a relaxed and supportive environment where questions were encouraged, and each skill was practised until participants felt confident. Real-life examples and demonstrations made the lessons practical and memorable.
Participants described the training as highly valuable, praising Caritas MJD for organising an insightful and practical session. Many expressed gratitude for the opportunity to acquire vital life-saving skills and the confidence to act in emergencies, noting the importance of moving beyond theory to hands-on practice.
A second training session was held on Aug 2 at Good Shepherd Catholic Seminary in Melaka, benefiting 20 participants. – Herald Malaysia
