Greetings of peace in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour!
I am deeply saddened to hear that His Eminence Cardinal Cornelius Sim was called to the Lord on Saturday 29th May 2021. Cardinal Cornelius had been very dear to us, especially to the faithful of the Cathedral of St. Mary Sandakan. For many years he had been conducting a joint-retreat program for the English speaking candidates preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation from Brunei Darussalam and St. Mary’s Cathedral Sandakan. Thus, I willingly join the priests and the lay faithful to thank God for his life and generous services rendered to the Apostolic Vicariate of Brunei Darussalam. We pray for God’s peace and comfort at this very sad time.
On behalf of the Sandakan Diocese, I sincerely express my deep condolences to all the Priests, the faithful in the Vicariate of Brunei Darussalam and family members of His Eminence, for the lost a loving, generous and faithful servant of God. May his soul rest in peace in the Kingdom of God.
