VIETNAM – Hundreds of catechists from across the Diocese of Hai Phong participated in a month-long training series in June to renew their commitment to faith formation and strengthen their teaching skills.
Organized by the diocesan Catechetical Office, the formation sessions were conducted in the deaneries of Ke Sat–Hai Duong, the Cathedral, and Nam Am.
The programs focused on Level I and II catechetical training, with emphasis on both theological foundations and practical pedagogy.
At Ke Sat Parish, 140 catechists joined a two-day Level I training on the fundamentals of catechesis. Sessions were led by a catechetical trainer from the Archdiocese of Saigon, who introduced topics such as the identity of catechists, essential teaching principles, and Scripture-based instruction tailored for children.
A key focus was presenting the Bible as central to catechetical lessons, allowing participants to practice dynamic approaches to classroom engagement.
In the Cathedral Deanery, evening classes were held from Jun 9-13 for Level II catechists, offering flexibility for those working or studying.
