CHANCERY NOTICE
BANNS OF SACERDOTAL ORDINATION
Having consulted the College of Consultors, His Grace Most Reverend Archbishop John Wong Soo Kau, DD has agreed to ordain Deacon Canisius Benjamin to the Sacred Order of Presbyter on Dec 6 2025 at 10.00 AM in St Catherine Church, Inanam.
Deacon Canisius Benjamin is from Inanam. The following are details of his formation:
1. CDC Aspirant (2015)
2. Initiation Year (2016)
3. Philosophy Year at College General Major Seminary Penang (2017-2018)
4. Regency Year at St Michael Penampang (2019)
5. Theology Year at St Peter’s College Major Seminary Kuching (2020-May 2024)
He was assigned to do Pastoral Immersions in the following places: St Jude’s Church, Bunan Gega, Sarawak (January 2021); St Joseph Papar & Holy Rosary Limbahau (January – May 2022); Holy Nativity Terawi (January – May 2023); St Catherine Inanam (January 2024); Blessed Sacrament Labuan (June 2024 – Jan 2025); St Simon Likas (January 2025 – present). Deaconate Ordination: 24 June 2025
Catholics are obliged to reveal any impediments or circumstances that would prevent Deacon Canisius Benjamin from entering the Sacred Order and should contact the parish priest or Archbishop John Wong with such information (Canon Law 1043).
The publication of these banns fulfill the canonical requirement of Canon Law 1051 2°.
