BUNDU TUHAN – A meaningful four-day visit to Mount La Verna’s Convent in Bundu Tuhan brought together four volunteers from Kota Kinabalu, including two young girls, Faith and Ethel to support Sr Caroline Duli in preparing for an upcoming fundraising bazaar.
Their contribution, includes introducing and selling homemade kimchi as a unique item for the event.
The visit was arranged through a connection with the Sisters, who were exploring creative ways to increase their bazaar offerings.
One of the visitors, a kimchi maker, suggested introducing the popular Korean fermented dish, a fitting opportunity not only to help raise funds but also to teach the two young girls a new skill in making pickled dishes.
During their stay, Fr Frederick Raymond celebrated Mass at St Pius X Church and led a morning Mass at the convent chapel on Saturday. Afterward, the group shared a fellowship breakfast, strengthening the bond between visitors and the convent community.
In his message to the two girls, Fr Frederick encouraged them to pursue their dreams and consider their career paths following the recent release of their SPM results.
His words served as a timely inspiration for the young visitors while also encouraged them to strengthen their faith in God.
The trip marked the girls’ first visit to Bundu Tuhan, a serene highland village renowned as a retreat centre and spiritual sanctuary.
Immersed in the tranquil environment and surrounded by lush greenery, the experience offered a moment of peace, reflection, and personal growth.
The initiative supported the Sisters’ fundraising efforts as well as opened new doors for youth engagement, blending cultural exchange with community service in a place where faith and nature harmoniously meet.
