LIMBAHAU – On Sunday, Apr 27, more than 40 youths from the Holy Rosary Limbahau Parish stepped out to participate in Easter Outreach 2.0, bringing the joy of Easter to the elderly, the sick, and the poor through Easter visits to nine homes around the parish.
In addition to bringing Easter joy by spending time praying and singing praises with the visited families, the youth also brought small contributions of essential goods collected from generous parishioners.
Through Easter Outreach 2.0, the youth were led to reflect that the encounters with the poor and the sick reveal the essence or foundation of Christian spiritual life, which is compassion.
Through these activities, it was hoped that the youth will understand that serving those in need will help them break free from selfishness and open their hearts to true love like Christ.
As Jesus said in Mt 25:40: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” When we meet the poor and the sick face to face, we recognize Christ in them.
The activity was also hoped to be an opportunity to learn gratitude and humility. Spending time with those
HRL youth deepen the spirit of compassion through Easter Visit who suffer helps to appreciate the blessings we often take for granted, such as health, home, and family.
The activity helped to remind participants that true wealth is not measured by material possessions, but by love and compassion.
And most importantly, Easter Outreach 2.0 invited the youth to experience a personal encounter with Christ’s mission, to bring the Good News to the poor, healing to the broken-hearted, and comfort to the suffering.
It was hoped that through these activities, the youth will realize that faith is not something to be kept, but something to be lived and shared.
