TANJUNG ARU – Before the dismissal of the Easter Vigil Mass, Fr Peter Abas announced the retirement of 14 Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) of Stella Maris Parish to all present.
He then invited them to step forward to say a few words. On behalf of the others, Thomas Moore Willie shared what it meant for him and others serving in the EMHC ministry.
It was a joyful journey serving but also a humbling experience. To be able to visit the sick and the dying at the hospital or their home has been a privilege. The reward was to see their joy and the happiness in their eyes when they received the Blessed Sacrament.
He introduced Jeremy Ting who has been serving in Stella Maris Parish since 1990. He also mentioned those served for almost 30 years such as Patrick Molie and Gregory Juin.
For the newly elected EMHC who would be commissioned the following week, Thomas urged the congregation to pray for them so that they will be able to execute their duty as EMHC.
Lastly, he thanked everyone for their prayers and for giving them the opportunity to serve.
