Retret Jesuit menarik belia dari pelbagai agama

Paderi Jesuit di Thailand telah memperkenalkan retret inovatif yang melibatkan ‘bagpackers’ dan menunggang motosikal, menarik golongan muda dari pelbagai kumpulan agama di negara majoriti Buddha.

Pusat Kerohanian Jesuit Seven Fountains di Chiang Mai, di utara Thailand, menganjurkan “Retreat on the Way” pada 12-13 Ogos yang menarik kira-kira 20 peserta termasuk Kristian, Buddha dan Animisme, kata laporan mengenai Persidangan Jesuit Asia Pasifik (JCAP) pada 15 Ogos.

“Retreat on the Way” menggabungkan tiga aktiviti atau sumber inspirasi yang berbeza: latihan rohani Ignatian, meditasi Buddha dan kembara bermotosikal.

Pelajar muda yang menghadiri retret itu berkata mereka menemui makna baharu dalam hidup mereka dan cara yang lebih baik untuk berhubung dengan rakan sebaya mereka.

Paderi Jesuit Vietnam Pham Ngo Hoang Dung berkata memperkayakan kerohanian belia adalah satu tugas yang sukar yang dicapai oleh retret itu.

“Dalam konteks negara Buddha dan teknologi moden, bukan mudah untuk menjauhkan golongan muda, terutamanya pelajar universiti, daripada telefon bimbit mereka dan tuntutan masyarakat, walaupun untuk mengikuti retret singkat untuk memperkayakan kehidupan rohani mereka,” kata Dung.

“Syukur untuk perjalanan ini. Ia adalah peluang yang baik untuk mereka membina hubungan mereka dengan Tuhan, alam semula jadi, dan satu sama lain,” tambahnya.

Dung ialah paderi universiti Rangkaian Pelajar Katolik di Utara Thailand dan pengarah Tabung Biasiswa Seven Fountains.

Rangkaian ini bertujuan untuk menyatukan pelajar Katolik peringkat universiti di Thailand, untuk mendidik dan mempromosikan pemahaman yang betul, dan untuk mendalami pengalaman iman Katolik dalam menjadi agama sepanjang hayat antara matlamat lain.

Rangkaian ini juga berfungsi untuk meningkatkan kesedaran sosial selaras dengan kepercayaan agama dan untuk menjalin kerjasama dengan organisasi lain.

Beberapa pelajar pada mulanya teragak-agak untuk mengambil bahagian dalam retret itu mendapati proses itu menaikkan semangat mereka.

“Ini kali pertama saya menyertai retret sebegini. Pada mulanya, saya teragak-agak untuk ikut, tetapi kini, saya dapati memang berbaloi berada di sini,” kata seorang pelajar yang enggan dinamakan.

“Retret adalah peluang yang baik untuk menghindar perkara yang membuat saya sibuk,” kata pelajar itu.

“Saya juga berpeluang mendapat kawan baharu. Melalui perjalanan ini, saya menyedari bahawa hidup saya akan lebih bermakna jika saya mempunyai masa untuk berhenti dan merenung,” tambah pelajar itu.

Retreat yang berlangsung selama dua hari satu malam itu termasuk peserta yang menaiki motosikal dari pusat kerohanian ke Gereja St. Joseph di Ban Den Hom di Samoeng, sejauh kira-kira 85 kilometer.

Semasa menaiki motosikal, kumpulan itu berhenti di tiga perhentian atau tempat ibadat selama 20 minit untuk berdiam diri atau bermeditasi.

Tema-tema utama yang direnungkan oleh para pelajar di setiap perhentian ialah: “melepaskan,” membersihkan fikiran dan kebimbangan mereka, mencari Tuhan dalam alam semula jadi dan ciptaan, dan menempatkan diri dalam renungan introsfektif dan kesyukuran.

Para pelajar mengambil bahagian dalam doa Taize dan berkumpul di sekitar unggun api untuk berkongsi pengalaman mereka secara kreatif melalui drama, nyanyian dan tarian di Gereja Saint Joseph, tempat perhentian semalaman yang ditetapkan.

Doa Taize adalah bentuk penyembahan yang ringkas dan bermeditasi, memanggil individu untuk merenung secara mendalam tentang kehadiran Kristus di sekeliling dan di dalam diri mereka.

Pada bahagian terakhir retret, para pelajar berkongsi pengalaman mereka tentang keseluruhan proses tersebut.

Sehingga 2019, Gereja Katolik di Thailand mempunyai kira-kira 388,000 penganut Katolik, iaitu kira-kira 0.5 peratus daripada kira-kira 69 juta orang di negara yang majoritinya beragama Buddha. – UCA News
