CHANCERY NOTICE
BANNS OF SACERDOTAL ORDINATION
Having consulted the College of Consultors, His Grace Most Reverend Archbishop John Wong Soo Kau, DD has agreed to ordain Deacon Yoseph Jup Matias to the Sacred Order of Presbyter on Dec 5 2026 at 9.00 am in Good Shepherd Church, Manggatal. Deacon Yoseph Jup Matias is from Manggatal.
The following are details of his formation.
Years of Formations:
1. CDC Aspirant (2016)
2. Initiation Year (2017)
3. Philosophy Year at College General Major Seminary, Penang (2018- 2019)
4. Regency Year at Church of the Divine Mercy, Shah Alam (2020)
5. Theology Year at St Peter’s College Major Seminary, Kuching (2021 – May 2025)
Pastoral Formations:
1. St Peter’s Church, Kudat (January 2019)
2. St Pius X, Bundu Tuhan (January 2022)
3. St Theresa, Kota Marudu (January – May 2023)
4. Sacred Heart Cathedral, Kota Kinabalu (January – May 2024)
5. St Catherine, Inanam (January 2025)
6. St Michael’s Parish Penampang and St Augustine Kinarut (June 2025 – present)
Catholics are obliged to reveal any impediments or circumstances that would prevent Deacon Yoseph Jup Matias from entering the Sacred Order and should contact the parish priest or Archbishop John Wong with such information (Canon Law 1043).
The publication of these banns fulfill the canonical requirement of Canon Law 1051 2°.
