KOTA KINABALU – ‘Witness of Hope’ is the theme for the Kota Kinabalu Archdiocesan Youth Consultation 2025 (KKAYC 2025), which was recently held from Sep 12 – 14, 2025. The three-day program held at the Catholic Archdiocesan Center was attended by a total of 160 youth leaders from across the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu, comprising 140 representatives from Parish Youth Service Teams (TPBP) and the Catholic Student Council (CSC), and 20 organizing committee members.
KKAYC 2025 began with the theme ‘Celebrate’ on the first day. In his homily at the opening Holy Mass, Archbishop John Wong reminded the participants that we are all sent to be witnesses of hope and that this hope must be lived out every day, by allowing God to renew and strengthen us. He added, “The Word of God is very powerful, and with Jesus, who is also the Word of God, we can be the best witnesses!” The Mass was followed by dinner.
Delving into the program, it started with praise and worship session, setting the participative mode for everyone. The program continued with a video presentation highlighting youth activities prepared by the delegates, as well as a video on the history of youth ministry in the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu. The first day of KKAYC 2025 concluded with a closing prayer.
The second day of KKAYC 2025 began with the Rosary prayer, followed by the Holy Mass led by Fr Wiandigool Runsab. Fr Wiandigool encouraged the participants to ask themselves, “What fruit am I seeking in this consultation?” and to base their prayers, hopes, and faith on Jesus.
