GENTING HIGHLANDS – Twenty-eight women from Kristus Aman parish gathered at Villa Dominic from Jun 19–21 for a spiritually enriching retreat themed Women – God’s Vessel of Transformation. Guided by Sr Angelin Gnanapiragasam, FMDM, participants embarked on a faith-filled journey through the lives of three remarkable women in Scripture — Mary, the Mother of Jesus, Mary of Bethany, and Martha of Bethany.
Drawing from the witness and virtues of these women, Sr Angelin invited participants to reflect on their own vocation as disciples, encouraging them to cultivate hearts rooted in prayer while remaining committed to loving service. Through her engaging presentations, vibrant personality and deep scriptural insights, she challenged the women to embrace God’s transforming grace in their daily lives.
The retreat provided opportunities for prayer, personal reflection and sharing, enabling participants to deepen their relationship with God and gain fresh perspectives on their faith journey. As they reflected on the examples of Mary and Martha, they were reminded that authentic Christian discipleship calls for both attentive listening to the Lord and generous service to others.
A highlight of the retreat was an outreach activity in which participants lovingly sewed chemo pouches for children undergoing cancer treatment. Through this simple yet compassionate gesture, the women translated prayer into action, becoming instruments of God’s love and care for those who are suffering.
On their journey home, the group stopped at the Church of St Jude, Rawang, where they participated in Sunday Mass celebrated by Fr Jonathan Rao, bringing their retreat experience to its spiritual culmination in the Eucharist.
Inspired by the lives of the women in Scripture, participants returned home with a shared commitment to become vessels of God’s love, hope and healing in their families, communities and the wider world. – Herald Malaysia
