BUKIT PADANG – Aug 26 2023 was marked as a day of fun and excitement for St Francis Convent (SFC) primary school students as they held an Open Day in conjunction with the school’s 100 years anniversary.
The grand Open Day was jointly organized by the Primary School Board, the Alumni of SFC schools and the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) as informed by Vivian Leong, Head of PTA, during his welcoming speech.
The day started early with a Zumba warm-up at 7.00 am, followed by the main activities; Cross-Country Run by Primary 3-6 students and sport games for Primary 1-2 students, meanwhile the alumni members and parents explored the school grounds with incentive of lucky draw in the Centenary Discovery Walk. All activities were flagged off simultaneously.
Aside from physical activities, there were also free services of health screening for adults, pap-smear and scoliosis test for Primary 6 students provided by the Kota Kinabalu Health Office. Lok Kawi Wildlife Park was present, displaying some selected amphibian and reptiles such as Python snake to satisfy the curiosity of the children. There was also a mobile ‘dinosaur’ that stirred the excitement of the children.
Archbishop John Wong congratulated the organizing committee and the involved parties in making the event a success and a memorable one. He exhorted the students to be grateful for the experience of being part of the centennial celebration and thanked the supportive parents and alumni in making the historical celebration a reality.
The alumni members liven up the centenary occasion with sales of drinks, food, and souvenirs.
