Keluarga Kristen diusir paksa dari desa mereka di Laos

LEBIH dari selusin keluarga Kristen bersama dengan seorang pendeta diusir secara paksa dari sebuah desa mayoritas Buddha di barat laut Laos diduga karena konversi mereka ke agama Kristen baru-baru ini, kata sebuah laporan.

Penduduk desa telah mengusir total 15 keluarga Kristen dan seorang pendeta di Desa Mai yang dihuni etnis Ahka di Provinsi Luang Namtha, Laos, lapor Radio Free Asia (RFA) pada 10 Februari.

Upaya dari lembaga pemerintah untuk menyelesaikan masalah ini melalui diskusi telah gagal dan penduduk desa yang terusir tetap kehilangan tempat tinggal, kata seorang Kristen yang tidak disebutkan namanya kepada RFA.

“Hari ini pejabat Lao Front untuk  Pembangunan Nasional di sini di Provinsi Luang Namtha dan sektor terkait lainnya memanggil keluarga Kristen dan kepala desa untuk mencoba menyelesaikan konflik di antara mereka, tetapi tidak ada kemajuan,” kata sumber tersebut.

Keluarga-keluarga yang terkena dampak telah menolak untuk mengomentari keadaan mereka karena takut akan pembalasan.

Otoritas pemerintah juga menolak untuk berbicara tentang insiden tersebut kepada pers dengan menyebutnya sebagai “masalah sensitif” sambil menyatakan mereka “masih menangani kasus tersebut”, lapor RFA.

Meskipun memiliki undang-undang nasional yang melindungi praktik keyakinan mereka di antara warganya, umat Kristiani dianggap warga negara kelas dua dan mengalami diskriminasi di berbagai tingkatan karena Kristen dipandang sebagai agama asing dan merugikan praktik animisme tradisional.

Insiden terbaru juga mengungkap tuduhan dari umat Kristen bahwa diskriminasi merajalela bahkan termasuk bantuan pemerintah.

“Pihak berwenang akan membeli kebutuhan untuk membantu orang miskin, tetapi mereka hanya akan memberikannya jika orang Kristen meninggalkan iman mereka,” kata seorang Kristen lain dari Laos utara yang meminta anonimitas untuk alasan keamanan, lapor RFA.

“Mereka mengatakan Kristen adalah agama asing, agama orang Barat yang adalah musuh kami, meskipun orang Kristen tidak setuju bahwa mereka adalah musuh kami,” tambah orang Kristen yang tidak disebutkan namanya itu.

Namun, seorang pejabat yang tidak disebutkan namanya dari kantor wilayah utara Front Lao untuk Pembangunan Nasional membantah tuduhan bahwa organisasi tersebut menargetkan orang-orang Kristen yang menyatakan bahwa masalah muncul dari konflik lokal antara orang Kristen dan komunitas lain.

“Kami tidak melarang mereka untuk memeluk agama Kristen, tetapi beberapa penganut agama Kristen menggunakan agama Kristen dengan cara yang salah yang bertentangan dengan aturan dan peraturan desa,” kata pejabat tersebut.

Pejabat tersebut lebih lanjut menambahkan konflik terjadi ketika penduduk desa berpindah ke agama Kristen dan “tidak berpartisipasi dalam festival atau upacara etnis dan mereka menyebarkan agama Kristen ke komunitas lain,” lapor RFA.

Terlepas dari penyangkalan pemerintah atas penganiayaan terhadap orang Kristen di negara yang diperintah oleh Komunis itu, kantor berita dan LSM telah melaporkan banyak kasus pelecehan yang dilakukan terhadap orang Kristen karena iman mereka.

Pihak berwenang dari Distrik Xieng Ngeun, Provinsi Luang Prabang, menyita KTP, paspor, dan kartu pendaftaran desa dari sebuah keluarga etnis minoritas Kristen pada Agustus 2022.

Mereka diminta untuk meninggalkan iman Kristen mereka untuk mendapatkan kembali dokumen mereka.

Pada Oktober 2022, Sy Seng Manee, 48, seorang pendeta Evangelis dari Provinsi Khammouane ditemukan tewas dan jenazahnya menunjukkan tanda-tanda bahwa dia telah disiksa sebelum kematiannya. Pihak berwenang belum menangkap tersangka.

Pada Februari 2022, penyerang membakar rumah sebuah keluarga etnis Kristen di Provinsi Savannakhet. Kasus ini juga masih belum diselesaikan.

Pada Oktober 2020, pihak berwenang menghancurkan rumah tujuh orang Kristen di Distrik Ta Oy, Provinsi Saravan karena menolak untuk menarik kembali iman mereka dan mengusir mereka dari desa.

Laos berada di peringkat ke-26 di antara 50 negara yang paling sulit menjadi orang Kristen dalam Daftar Pantauan Dunia 2022 oleh kelompok HAM Kristen global, Open Doors.

Open Doors memperkirakan orang Kristen mencapai sekitar 203.000 atau 2,8 persen dari total populasi 7,2 juta. – UCA News Indonesia
