THAILAND – The second season of the MISSION POSSIBLE Youth Social Hackathon is set to begin on Jul 11, 2025, at the Baan Phu Waan Pastoral Training Center in Sampran, Nakhon Pathom, about 60 kilometers west of Bangkok.
The event will also be held in the Philippines this October at Assumption Antipolo.
Organized by the Catholic Education Council of Thailand and LiCAS News, the hackathon aims to engage young people across Asia in the Church’s synodal journey by encouraging them to listen to the suffering of society and respond to pressing local issues.
Inspired by startup-style hackathons, participants— all school-aged youth—will work intensely over three days to identify community challenges and propose innovative solutions, which they will pitch for funding on the final day. The event turns the format around, asking not what the “hackers” can get, but what they can give to society.
This year’s funding pool—approximately 14,000 euros—is aimed at supporting youth in turning their Synod-inspired social impact projects into reality.
Participants will be guided by mentors and “pitching” coaches who are nationally recognized for their leadership in community development and social innovation.
