PENAMPANG – Montfortian Gabrielite Associates Sabah held its first fundraising event on Easter Sunday, Apr 17.
It was attended by about 100 visitors. The event, which started at 10.00 am, was held at the Brothers of St Gabriel’s House, Donggongon, Penampang.
Visitors who attended the event enjoyed browsing through 14 stalls selling a variety of food and drinks.
A section of the house was also set-up for jumble sale displaying pre-loved items such as clothing, shoes, bags, toys and many more. Various plants and herbs were also on sale.
Children below 12 years old were treated with an Easter egg hunt activity. To give this fun-filled activity a more spiritual meaning, attached to each egg was a tiny scroll containing a bible verse about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Each child was to read the attached verse before eating their eggs.
The highlight of the event was the lucky draw where several prizes were up for grab such as hampers, cash, foot spa, and the main prize – Xiaomi Redmi handphone.
The main objective of the event was to raise funds to cover part of the costs of the members’ pilgrimage to Mount Rosary, Ranau which is scheduled to take place in May.
The event was also an opportunity for friends and family of the Montfortian Gabrielite Associates to come together in unity to support a worthy cause, as well as to foster fellowship and camaraderie among each other.
The fundraising event was a resounding success and the set monetary target was well and truly exceeded.
