PETALING JAYA – As our nation celebrates the 63rd Merdeka Day and 57th Malaysia Day this year, 2020 also marks the 50th anniversary of the Rukun Negara, our blueprint guidance for national unity with its principles of Belief in God, Loyalty to King and Country, Supremacy of the Constitution, the Rule of Law, Courtesy and Morality.
In its statement Aug 28 which calls on ‘A United Malaysia, Caring for One Another”, the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) calls “on the Malaysian Government and all in positions of authority and influence to commit earnestly to pursuing the foundational objectives of the Rukun Negara and to anchor all policy decisions for Malaysia on the guiding principles enshrined in it.”
With the onslaught of COVID-19, the Churches cried out in unity for mercy and grace of God and is thankful that Malaysia has progressed well in containing the deadly virus. The CFM calls upon all to support the Government’s directives in regards to the fight against coronavirus with an attitude of care and unity.
The CFM also mentioned in its statement about the untimely change of government following the resignation of the former Prime Minister and distressingly the switching of allegiances disregarding the democratic electoral process.
“Let us continue to pray for the well-being of Malaysia, Yang di-Pertuan Agong (and all in position of authority), with wisdom, courage, strength and good health to lead Malaysia to overcome this challenging time and into a future of prosperity,” said CFM.
