“Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Mathew 11 28-29
Sometimes I wonder why God has to rest! At times when I poured out many of my problems, I felt guilty…because God has to rest!? He made the world in six days and on the seventh day, He makes sure that it is a rest day!
Stress comes naturally for most of us. We are all stressed in one way or another. However, it is how we face and deal with stress and not to let it hover over us.
We work smart and hard for six days, we need the seventh day to rest. So, here is an acronym for REST so that you can de-stress at the end of the week and come out strong, happier and more energetic on the first day of the week to serve the Lord in His plans.
R – Relax means take time to meditate, take deep breaths to calm down and do activities that you are interested in – for example, what you are passionate about.
E – Experience new things and break from the usual things/routines. It can be frightening but if we do not take the risk to learn new things, we will never learn and know, unless we try!
S – Share and support friends and new friends, expand your network and be able to share your problems and at the same time listen and encourage your friends. A friend in need is a friend indeed!
T – Trust fully in God. Do your best and leave the rest to God. Be His friend!
Choose to find rest in God, who always waits for us with open arms, just like the extravagant father to his prodigal son.
Remember… God loves us so much!
