KOTA KINABALU – 23 teachers received award as token of appreciation for their long service and dedication to SK St Francis Convent School (M), May 15 at Albatross Hall, Sutera Harbour Golf Club. The presentation of the awards was in conjunction with the Teacher’s Appreciation Dinner hosted by St Francis Convent’s Board of Governors.
The celebration was graced by the presence of the Most Reverend Archbishop John Wong, and Fr Paul Lo as advisor to the Board of Governors. All the former principal were also invited to behold and honour this memorable event.
The dinner theme which was Black and Gold imbued with the celebration of Harvest Festival month when most of the guests turned up donning their unique traditional costume with lustrous jewellery and appurtenance.
It was an occasion to express words of gratitude to the school principal, Dora Loi Siew Choo for her retirement. The headmistress, who was born of a headmaster and nurse parents, said in her speech, she was immensely thankful to all the teachers, students, Board of Governors and Parents Teachers Association for their continuous support and hard works towards achieving the school vision and mission. She hopes that the existing relationship and cooperation between all parties will continue to nourish the school achievement both academic and curricular activities.
On behalf of everyone and as Chairlady of the organizing committee, Catherine Engsun bid farewell and wished all the best to Dora Loi as she embarks in a new chapter in her life journey. Catherine said, throughout Dora Loi’s tenure, the school has flourished and became one of the best schools in Sabah, and this accomplishment was not attained overnight but through her highest standard of leadership, integrity and compassion.
While savoring the tasty dishes, guests were entertained with line dance performances by the group of teachers and members of the Board.
“Everyone is lucky tonight, each one of us here will get our lucky draw gift,” said one of the Board members as they had prepared 88 gifts in total for all the guests. These gifts consist of kitchen and electrical appliances, food hamper, cash and vouchers.
After taking group photos, His Grace closed the party by prayer and wished everyone to be home safe.
