Requiem di hospital lapangan Vietnam untuk pesakit Covid-19

Seorang pesakit Covid-19 yang meninggal dunia dipindahkan ke bilik mayat hospital di Vietnam

Doa untuk mangsa wabak di bilik mayat hospital adalah peringatan tentang kehidupan abadi baru yang tidak akan pernah pudar

Bulan November ini, bulan memperingati para arwah, sama sekali berbeza dengan tahun-tahun lalu yang pernah saya alami. Saya tidak dapat membersihkan kuburan orang yang saya sayangi, tidak dapat menyalakan lilin mahupun meletakkan bunga di atas kubur mereka seperti yang biasa saya lakukan.

Saya berfikir semuanya akan berlaku secara senyap-senyap seperti biasa, tetapi tidak demikian kerana selalunya jawapan yang menarik dalam hidup dibalut dengan teliti dalam hadiah-hadiah indah yang mesti kita berusaha keras untuk membukanya.

Disebabkan situasi rumit pandemik Covid-19, Gereja menjemput anak-anaknya untuk memilih waktu yang sesuai untuk melawat kubur arwah tersayang di taman atau tanah perkuburan suci dengan syarat ianya selamat untuk diri mereka sendiri dan orang lain.

Amat bertuah bagi saya kerana setiap hari adalah masa yang sesuai. Semasa syif harian saya di hospital lapangan untuk pesakit coronavirus, saya kerap melawat dan berdoa untuk pesakit yang telah meninggal dunia yang disimpan di bilik mayat hospital.

Pada “titik pertemuan” ini orang ramai tidak mengalami diskriminasi atas alasan umur, kekayaan atau agama. Mereka semua telah meninggal dunia akibat virus itu tanpa saudara mara di sisi dan tanpa peluang untuk mengucapkan selamat tinggal kepada orang lain.

Petang semalam, apabila syif saya tamat, saya berniat untuk ke bilik persalinan dan kemudian pulang ke rumah, tetapi seperti ada sesuatu di hati saya yang mendesak saya untuk berlama-lama sedikit. Berikutan panggilan senyap itu, saya berjalan di sekitar wad untuk melawat pesakit dan mendapati seorang pesakit lelaki baru sahaja meninggal dunia. Doktor dan jururawat sedang membalut tubuhnya.

Beberapa sukarelawan agama dan saya berkumpul di sekeliling mengucapkan doa untuknya. Untuk berterima kasih kepadanya kerana mengingati saya dan menjemput saya kepadanya, saya menyertai dua jururawat membawanya ke bilik mayat.

Dalam perjalanan, jururawat bertanya kepada saya sama ada saya mengenali lelaki tua ini.

“Saya baru kenal dia sejak di hospital. Dan sampai sekarang saya saudara dia,” jawab saya.

“Jadi, awak tak takut ke?” salah seorang daripada mereka menyambung.

“Biasanya, saya sangat takut dengan hantu dan melihat orang mati, tetapi sejak masuk hospital saya tidak lagi takut kepada mereka. Orang yang mati pun manusia juga. Cuma mereka kini berbeza daripada kita – mereka adalah orang suci.”

Kedua-dua jururawat itu memandang saya dengan terkejut di dalam lif yang kelihatan lebih kecil daripada biasa, mungkin kerana perluasan keintiman, kasih sayang dan kemanusiaan tulen yang melimpah di sini.

Selepas beberapa minit berdiam diri, jururawat bertanya kepada saya sama ada saya menemani pesakit untuk mendoakannya.

“Betul. Saya bawa dia ke bilik mayat dan mendoakan rohnya bagi pihak saudara mara. Semoga dia segera ke syurga bersama mereka yang telah pergi dari hidup ini,” ujar saya.

Kemudian kami tidak bercakap sesama sendiri lagi, secara senyap menolak troli dengan badan. Walaupun jaraknya hanya dekat, kami mempunyai tujuan yang sama, mencipta visi baru masa depan yang penuh dengan cahaya fajar, sinar matahari yang hangat, gelak tawa dan pertemuan emosi yang menggembirakan, dan tanpa kesakitan, perpisahan dan kesedihan.

Selepas kami memasukkannya ke dalam peti sejuk, dan semasa saya berdoa, jururawat memberitahu saya: “Kakak, kami pergi dulu!”

Aku menoleh dan menganggukkan kepala tanda terima kasih kepada mereka. Apabila saya ditinggalkan bersendirian dengan lelaki itu dan roh-roh yang berehat sementara di sana, saya tiba-tiba menyedari bahawa keadaan manusia sangat rapuh. Orang sekarang kuat, esok menjadi lemah, dan lusa berlalu.

Saudara-mara si mati tentu dalam keadaan yang sangat sedih kerana mereka tidak dapat melihatnya untuk kali terakhir. Setelah sekian lama mengharapkan dan menunggu berita baik, apa yang mereka terima akhirnya adalah had nasib manusia yang tidak dapat dielakkan, kecuali panggilan telefon ringkas melalui sukarelawan.

Ya, kita mesti mematuhi undang-undang “kelahiran, usia tua, sakit dan kematian” untuk menantikan kehidupan kekal yang baru yang tidak akan pernah pudar.

Saya tinggal bersama lelaki itu lebih lama dan kemudian kembali.

Berjalan sendirian dalam gelap malam yang menyelubungi ruang, tiba-tiba aku merasakan ikatan cinta dalam diriku seakan-akan lebih panjang, tebal dan lebih anjal. Langit di hati saya juga cepat mengembang ke tahap yang luar biasa.

Sambil memandang ke langit, saya sangat berterima kasih kepada Tuhan kerana memimpin saya dan menggunakan saya sebagai alat kecil di tanganNya.Sehingga saat ini, saya menyedari bahawa hidup saya bersinar dengan warna misteri yang penuh makna. – UcaNews
