DONTOZIDON – Seminarian Jerry Joseph Muhamat on Dec 7 had publicly declared in front of Archbishop John Wong and fellow parishioners his intention to be a candidate for Holy Orders, in the Rite for Admission to Candidacy, during the daily morning Mass at St Paul Church Dontozidon (photo).
The rite is an important official step for a seminarian and an opportunity for him to express his intention to receive the sacrament of Holy Orders as a deacon and later as a priest.
“I am grateful that I can express my intention publicly in front of the bishop and the faithful. I have been preparing myself spiritually and I am ready,” said Sem Jerry.
On the altar with the prelate were Fr Isidore Gilbert and Jerry’s classmate in the seminary, Deacon George Vaithynathan from Penang Diocese, who is in KK to witness the candidate’s diaconate ordination.
The ordination is on Dec 9 at 9.00 am in Sacred Heart Cathedral, KK.
