TUARAN – The Catholic Church of St John Church Tuaran was swamped with a sea of colorful cultural attire and a strong display of inclusivity as the church welcomed delegates of migrants from different parishes within the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu on Sep 28 to celebrate the archdiocesan level of World Migrant Sunday.
Organized by the Archdiocesan Commission for the Pastoral Care for Migrant and Itinerant (ACMI) together with the Parish Migrant Ministry (PMM) of St John Tuaran, the PMM of St Pius Bundu Tuhan, and the PMM of St Peter Claver Ranau, the celebration drew about 600 migrants from different parishes, mainly of the Indonesian Catholic community.
For this year, the theme for World Migrant Sunday is ‘Migrant, Missionaries of Hope,’ chosen by the late Pope Francis early this year.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Archbishop John Wong, together with Fr Thomas Yip, Parish Priest of John Tuaran; Fr Ambrose Atang, the Spiritual Director of ACMI; Fr Wiandigol, assistant priest of St John Tuaran; Fr Russel and Deacon Canisius.
