First reading 1 Peter 5:1-4

Watch over the flock, not simply as a duty but gladly

Now I have something to tell your elders: I am an elder myself, and a witness to the sufferings of Christ, and with you I have a share in the glory that is to be revealed. Be the shepherds of the flock of God that is entrusted to you: watch over it, not simply as a duty but gladly, because God wants it; not for sordid money, but because you are eager to do it. Never be a dictator over any group that is put in your charge, but be an example that the whole flock can follow. When the chief shepherd appears, you will be given the crown of unfading glory.

Responsorial Psalm 22(23)

The Lord is my shepherd: there is nothing I shall want.

The Lord is my shepherd;

there is nothing I shall want.

Fresh and green are the pastures

where he gives me repose.

Near restful waters he leads me,

to revive my drooping spirit.

He guides me along the right path;

he is true to his name.

If I should walk in the valley of darkness

no evil would I fear.

You are there with your crook and your staff;

with these you give me comfort.

You have prepared a banquet for me

in the sight of my foes.

My head you have anointed with oil;

my cup is overflowing.

Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me

You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi he put this question to his disciples, ‘Who do people say the Son of Man is?’ And they said, ‘Some say he is John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.’ ‘But you,’ he said ‘who do you say I am?’ Then Simon Peter spoke up, ‘You are the Christ,’ he said ‘the Son of the living God.’ Jesus replied, ‘Simon son of Jonah, you are a happy man! Because it was not flesh and blood that revealed this to you but my Father in heaven. So I now say to you: You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church. And the gates of the underworld can never hold out against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: whatever you bind on earth shall be considered bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth shall be considered loosed in heaven.’

Reflection
1 Peter 5: 1-4, Matthew 16: 13-19
“To be a shepherd who leads by example”
Today, let us reflect on the 1st reading from St. Peter: “…give a shepherd’s care to the flock of God that is entrusted to you: watch over it, not simply as a duty but gladly, as God wants; not for sordid money, but because you are eager to do it. Do not lord it over the group which is in your charge, but be an example for the flock”. All of us have the responsibility to be shepherds. But what kind of shepherd do we want to be? Are we shepherds who care like Jesus, the Good Shepherd?

Sadly, power corrupts. We have seen this in politics, in the workplaces as well as in the church. May we never allow power to harden our hearts. Let us lead by examples, not just by telling others what to do, but by showing with our actions and life. Today, the invitation is for us to be shepherds, leaders, employers, mentors, parents, aunts/uncles, who follow the example of Jesus by serving those around us with humility and love.

Question for reflection:
How can I lead others by my example of self-giving and humble service?

“Menjadi gembala yang memimpin melalui teladan”
Hari ini marilah merenungkan pembacaan pertama dari St. Petrus: “..gembalakanlah kawanan domba Allah yang ada padamu, jangan dengan paksa, tetapi dengan sukarela sesuai dengan kehendak Allah, dan jangan kerana mahu mencari keuntungan tetapi dengan pengabdian diri. Janganlah kamu buat seolah-olah kamu mau memerintah atas mereka yang dipercayakan kepadamu, tetapi hendaklah kamu menjadi teladan bagi kawanan domba itu”. Semua kita mempunyai tanggungjawab sebagai gembala. Namun seperti apa yang kita mahu? Adakah kita gembala yang mengambil berat seperti Yesus, Gembala baik?
Malangnya, kuasa merosakkan. Kita telah melihatnya melalui politik, di tempat kerja serta di gereja. Semoga kita tidak membenarkan kuasa mengeraskan hati kita. Marilah memimpin dengan contoh, bukan hanya memberitahu orang lain apa yang perlu mereka lakukan, tetapi dengan menunjukkannya melalui perbuatan dan hidup kita. Hari ini, jemputan untuk kita adalah untuk menjadi gembala, pemimpin, pekerja, mentor, ibu bapa, ibu/bapa saudara, yang mengikut teladan Yesus dengan melayani orang lain di sekitar kita dengan rendah hati dan cintakasih.

Soalan renungan:
Bagaimana saya dapat memimpin orang lain melalui teladan dengan memberi diri dan rendah hati?

Ibok paningganai takau koson ra tiluan, sala’ ka ayuk mambala’ ra ulun bokon atan ondo’ baalon, kaa’ mampakito takau ra ondo’ baalon am kaayagan takau. Renungan
1 Peter 5:1-4; Matthew 16:13-19

“Nyadi pengibun bedus ti meri chuan ka badas.”
Saritu, aram kitai belematika bacha keterubah ari St. Peter:”…ibun bala nembiak Allah Taala ke diasuh ibun kita, ukai ari pejal, tang enggau ati ti ransing, baka ti dikedekkaka Allah Taala kereja kita, lalu ukai laban kita minta gaji. Anang ngaga diri nyadi tuan atas orang ke diibun kita, tang nyadi teladan ke sida.” Semua kitai bisi tanggungpengawa nyadi pengibun. Tang kati bagi pengibun ti di deka kitai deh? Bisi kitai nyadi pengibun baka Jesus ti Pengibun Bedus ka Badas?

Enggau ati ti tusah, kitai nemu sida ti ngembuan kuasa nyadi penyakal. Tu ulih dipeda kitai dalam politik, ba endur kereja sereta dalam Gerija. Awak ka ati kitai enda nyadi liat ketegal kuasa. Awak kitai nyadi teladan ukai ari meri jako ajar aja tang mega nengah pengawa enggau pengidup kitai. Saritu, kitai dikangau nyadi pengibun, ketuai, pengurus, pengajar, apai indai, aya/ibuk ti beteladan ka Jesus ti mela orang bukai ti bekaul enggau kjtai enggau ati baroh sereta rindu.

Kati aku ulih ngiring orang bukai nengah teladan aku ti meri diri sereta ngereja pengawa enggau baroh ati?

” 成为一位以身作则的牧羊人”
今天，让我们回顾圣伯多禄所说的在读经一：“…..你們務要牧放天主托付給你們的羊群；盡監督之職，不是出於不得已，而是出於甘心，隨天主的聖意；也不是出於貪卑鄙的利益，而是出於情願；不是做托你們照管者的主宰，而是做群羊的模範。” 我们所有人都有责任成为牧羊人。但是我们要成为么样的牧羊人呢？我们是否像耶稣那样成为好牧羊人？

可悲的是，权力腐败了一切。我们已经在政治上，工作场所以及教堂里看到了这一切。愿我们永远不要让这些事情所影响而变成冷酷。让我们以身作则，而不是告诉别人该怎么做，但是要以我们的行为和生活展示给别人。今天，我们也被邀请成为牧羊人、领导者、雇主、导师、父母、阿姨/叔叔跟随耶稣的谦卑和爱的榜样为我们周围的人服务。

省思题：
我如何以身作则的自我给予和谦卑的服务来领导他人呢？
