A hymn to mercy has been lifted up by Pope Francis in these last seven days, insisting that God never tires of forgiving.
The celebration of the liturgy on Divine Mercy Sunday set the tone for this past week regarding Pope Francis’s activities. He used several occasions to preach about God’s infinite love, which we can come to experience and welcome through prayer.
In Wednesday’s General Audience, he made reference to the importance of praying together, thus overcoming the temptation of the devil who wants to weaken our relationship with the Lord.
The Pope also reflected on this same topic through the teaching of Saint Teresa of Avila, the great reformer of the Carmelite Order, who was declared a Doctor of the Church 50 years ago. Pope Francis paid clear tribute to her in an extensive video message on the occasion of a conference being held on her life and work.
