AFTER a 2-year hiatus, 123 Catechists and Extraordinary Communion Ministers (ECM) from the parishes/sub-parish of St Catherine Inanam, Holy Family Telipok, Good Shepherd Menggatal and Divine Mercy KKIP finally made it to their long-awaited recollections before they were recommissioned for another year of service. Joining them were 28 new Extraordinary Communion Ministers.
The last recollection was conducted on the 11 January 2020 before the pandemic lockdown which disrupted all parish activities. Similarly, the parishes/sub-parish were unable to organize any recollections with the strict SOP still in force last year.
This year, however, the recollections were conducted separately in various venues to avoid overcrowding. The participants were free to select the church venue where they were able to attend the recollection and commissioning.
The new ECMs were spread out among the four parishes; St Catherine Inanam (9), Good Shepherd Menggatal (6), Holy Family Telipok (6) and Church of Divine Mercy KKIP (5).
With these new additions, St Catherine now has 46 ECMs inclusive of 21 Catechists, 42 for Holy family Telipok inclusive of 14 catechists, 35 for Good Shepherd Menggatal inclusive of 14 Catechists.
The Church of Divine Mercy which is expected to be elevated to parish status in the near future has 11 ECMs inclusive of 5 newly commissioned ECMs and one Catechist.
All recollections inclusive of recommissioning were conducted by Fr Mitchelly Kiun at the respective churches. ECMs and Catechists at St Catherine were the first to be recommissioned on the Apr 1, followed by Holy Family Telipok on Apr 2, Good Shepherd on Apr 3 and the Church of Divine Mercy on Apr 9.
