First Way of the Cross at the Cathedral, Mar 4

KOTA KINABALU – As Ash Wednesday on Mar 2 marked the beginning of Lent, Sacred Heart Cathedral parish embarked on its devotion of the Way of the Cross, which takes place every Friday throughout the Lenten season. However, the Way of the Cross for the first Friday of Lent on Mar 4 and the last Friday (15 April) of Lent would be held outdoor with SOP in combined languages.
On the First Way of the Cross at the centenary statues of the various stations of the Cross, the opening prayer and concluding prayer were led by Archbishop John Wong while the different stations of the Cross were led by leaders of three languages in rotation: seminarian Jerry (English), Sr Anita James (BM) and Michael Wan (Chinese).
About 150 parishioners participated in the physical Way of the Cross.
The Way of the Cross on subsequent Fridays will be held inside the Cathedral: English at 6 pm, BM at 7 pm and Chinese at 8 pm.
Parishioners are encouraged to participate in the Way of the Cross to enhance our relationship with the Lord so that we are strengthened to carry our cross and follow Him daily.
