教宗:為了更好的未來,新冠疫情是「真理顯露的時刻」

《讓我們再次夢想》:在這本新書中,教宗方濟各接受英國記者艾夫賴格訪談,省思全球新冠疫情。這個危機「看似獨一無二」,因為它殃及全球,跟其它持續傷害人類的悲慘處境相比,只是「顯得格外清晰可見」。教宗鼓勵眾人與他人相遇,以「付出最好的自己」。

(梵蒂岡新聞網)自新冠疫情爆發以來,全世界彷彿陷入迷宮一般,找不到出路。這是一場真正的惡夢。但無論如何,持久的危機狀態敦促我們不要停滯不前,即使危險重重,如同在每個迷宮裡會發生那樣,常會遇到死路。教宗方濟各運用了這個圖像來描述當前處境,並勉勵信友們跟隨聖神「召叫我們走出自己」的聲音,從而找到指引出口的一條線路。而最糟糕的情況是「我們顧影自憐,迷迷糊糊地兜圈子,總是走不出迷宮」。為了走出迷宮,只有一條出路:放下「自拍」的文化,走出去與他人相遇,因為我們周圍的其他人「能幫助我們找到出路,付出最好的自己」。教宗方濟各在接受英國記者艾夫賴格(Austen Ivereigh)訪談時,闡述了以上要點。這次訪談內容已集結出書,名稱是《讓我們再次夢想》。

作者艾夫賴格闡明,這本書誕生於封城時期,尤其是教宗方濟各於2020年3月27日在特殊祈禱時刻獨自現身在聖伯多祿廣場上的那一刻。那時,「教宗有如暴風雨中的飛行員,在最黑暗的夜晚裡引領世人」。隨後在夏季時光,艾夫賴格進行了這次訪談。交談的起點極具現實意義,教宗視之為「真理顯露的時刻」。教宗多次強調,「走出危機後,人肯定會變得不一樣」。他心中所想的,不只是新冠疫情。「新冠危機看似獨一無二,因為它衝擊到絕大部分的人類。但它的獨特之處僅僅在於它的可見度。然而,還有成千上萬同樣可怕的危機,它們有些似乎離我們很遠,而我們表現得一副事不關己的樣子」。教宗牽掛著世界上的許多戰爭、軍火販運,以及眾多逃離貧困、飢餓和氣候變化災害的難民。

教宗的目光雖然落在世人身上,卻不忘自身經歷。他回顧了自己的「三次類似於新冠疫情的處境」。第一次是嚴重的肺炎,發生在1957年8月,當時的貝爾格里奧進修院才兩年,就得面對生死搏鬥。第二次是1986年在德國求學的階段,教宗稱之為「流亡的新冠經驗」,意思是他自願流落在外、完成學業。第三次是個特殊的隔離時期:一年十個月又十三天。事情發生在1990年代初的科爾多瓦耶穌會會院,以服從長上的指示。最奇特的是,當年貝爾格里奧居然閱讀了馮帕斯托爾(Ludwig von Pastor)的37冊《教宗史》。教宗方濟各說:「我本來可以選擇小說、讀更有趣的書。就我現在的情況來說,我自問天主為什麼那時候恰好啟發我去閱讀那套著作。上主提前給我打了一劑預防針。一旦知道了那些歷史,羅馬聖座和今天教會內發生的事就沒什麼令人驚訝的了。它對我助益良多!」

簡而言之,每個危機都給我們上一堂課,我們必須從中領會其奧妙。教宗說:「這些是我個人類似於『新冠疫情』的重要經驗。我從中學習到,當你飽受煎熬時,你要是能有所改變,走出痛苦時就會變得更好。相反地,你要是築起高牆,你走出時就會變得更糟糕。」- Vatican News
