KOTA KINABALU – Pope Francis encouraged the faithful all around the world to pray for world peace by reciting the Holy Rosary in front of the Tabernacle, in view of the rising conflict in the war-torn Middle East region.
The Parish of Sacred Heart Cathedral responded to the call of the Holy Father and have been praying the Holy Rosary every Sunday at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel from 22 Oct – 12 Nov 2023 at different times and languages.
The Rosary prayer in Bahasa is scheduled at 12.30pm, English at 5.00pm and Mandarin at 7.00pm.
Parishioners are encouraged to join in the rosary prayer at any time as set in the schedule in the Sacred Heart chapel.
In this ardent desire for peace, which is the “fruit of the Spirit,”13 all shall devote themselves like the Apostles in the upper room, “to prayer together with…Mary the mother of Jesus.
Prayer, by which we ask for the gift of peace, is therefore an irreplaceable contribution to the establishment of peace. It is through Christ, in whom all grace is given us, that we dispose ourselves to welcome the gift of peace. And in that undertaking, how can we do otherwise than to depend lovingly upon the incomparable intercession of Mary, his mother, of whom the Gospel tell us that she “found favor with God”.
